Chapter Sixteen

We arrived at the Coca Cola Star Lake Amphitheater and found a parking place by 3:30. The cocktail party didn't start until 4:00, so we had some time to kill. We were just walking around when we had bumped into Ashley and Mandi, two girls who I had gone to school with.

"Oh my! Jen, is that you?" Ashley asked.

"Yeah, hi! I haven't seen you two for awhile!" I said as I gave them both hugs.

"Wow, it's been quite a while!" Mandi exclaimed.

"Yeah," I said. They have certainly changed. They don't look like the girls I used to know, they looked a lot older.

"So, what are you guys here?" I asked, "I thought I'd be the oldest person here."

"Well, My daughter wanted to see them," Ashley said and pointed to a little girl holding a pink book bag.

"Aww... She looks just like you," I said.

"Thank you," she said.

"And what brings you here Mandi?" I asked.

"Well, I wanna see Chris live," she said.

"Oh, so your a Chris fan," I said laughing.

"No," she said dumbfounded. "We used to go to..Ow!" Mandi said, then Ashley had elbowed her in the ribs.

"You used to go to what with him?" I asked confused.

"We meet him down in Orlando, he's VERY nice," Ashley said, yet you could tell she was lying through her teeth.

"Okay. Well, I think I'll see ya later. We have to go. Bye!" I said as I drug Michelle away with me.

"What's wrong?" Michelle asked.

"Didn't you find that situation very odd?" I asked.

"Yeah, but I wasn't really paying attention," she said, "hey look, it's almost time for the cocktail party. Lets go!"

"Okay," I said as we made are way over there.

"Hi!" Michelle said to her friends that were already there.

"I can not wait until to night, I just want to run up on stage and rape Joey," one of them, I think Chloe, said.

"Oh, I know," Michelle said.

"I don't know about you guys, but I'm so hungry. I've been depriving myself of any junk food," another one of them said.

"Me too," Michelle said, "I know I'm going to meet them."

"What's in your bag?" Chloe asked.

"Oh, just my autograph book," she said.

"Ain’t it awfully large to be an autograph book?" Chloe asked.

"No," Michelle said firmly.

About a half an hour later, one of my friends showed up and we were in deep conversation about how weird most of these girls were.

"Oh my gosh!" Michelle yelled, "oh, no."

"What, is it 'N SYNC," some girls had yelled.

"No, it's my ex and his new girlfriend," she said, "hide me, please."

"Where, I don't see him?" I said, looking frantically for him, "I'm going to kick him where it counts."

"I'll be back," she said and quickly left.

"Huh? Where'd she go?" I asked, looking around for her.

'Ha, ha, ha,' Michelle thought to herself, 'they would have never guessed I would do this,' She was looking around for a bodyguard when she bumped into someone.

"Oh my, I'm so sorry," she said.

"It's okay," said the person.

"Hey, aren't you Joey's brother?" she asked.

"Yeah," he said, "and let me guess, you want to meet him?"

"Well, no. I have to talk to Chris," she said.

"Oh, really? Why?" he said, curious to find out what she had to ask him.

"Hang on," she said as she opened her book bag and pulled out a yearbook.

"What's that for?" he asked.

"I know, hang on," she said as she open it and turned to a page, "this is my sister when she was in 11th. And... This was Chris," she said as she pushed the yearbook into his hands.

"So? They went out? What do you need to talk to him about?"

"This is sort of a long story, but here it goes. They went out for awhile, I don't know how long because I was so young. Well, I guess they were pretty serious because my mother never liked him or if she did, I don't know. One day in December, right after the Christmas Dance, Chris found out that he was moving to Orlando with his dad and told my sister. They went to a carnival and then, I guess went ice skating and she fell into the water," she said.

"And," he said, getting impatient.

"She fell into a coma and my mom flipped on Chris, blaming it on him, I think and forbid him to ever see her. My sister came out of a coma, but she doesn't fully remember her past. I hope that maybe if she saw Chris, it'll all come back. Please, my sister wants to know her past. In fact, she doesn't even know that she knows Chris, I've kept it from her for two weeks! Please, if not, if, if she doesn't remember. Well, then will leave and I guess you'll have something to joke about. We don't need to see anybody else, just Chris. Please, I beg of you" she said.

He thought for a moment, he seemed like he was debating it in his head. He then said, "Well, lets go find out if Chris remembers your dear, old sister. If this is a lie, I must say it is very creative," he said, leading her into the entrance to get backstage.

A body guard stopped Michelle, but Steve said "No, it's cool. She's with me."
