Chapter Two

It was 8:00 when I got home that night. Michelle must have still been out when I got in. She must be out club'n or over at the strip. I know that last night she went out to the southside and partied. I walked into the kitchen and made something to eat. I then walked into the living room and sat down on the sofa. I turned on the TV and watched a movie on TNT. I must have fallen asleep because the next morning I awoke to find a blanket over me. I glanced at the clock and it read 7:36. I sat up and looked around. I saw Michelle's purse on the table.

I got up and walked into the bathroom. I turned on the water, stripped my clothes off, and jumped in. 'Thank god I didn't have that dream again last night, but I did have a dream that Michelle and I were walking down some corridors and a lot of people were around us,' I thought to myself.

20 minutes later, I was done. So I turned off the water and walked into my room. I then put on some clothes and walked into the kitchen. I had got myself a bowl of cereal and sat down at the dinning room table. I looked over at the clock, 8:10.

By the time I was done eating, Michelle walked in and sat down beside me. "Morning," she mumbled.

"Good morning sunshine," I said sarcastically. Michelle set her head on the table and closed her eyes.

"Rough night?" I asked.

She grunted in response to me. She then sat straight up and looked me straight in the eye. "How old were you when you lost your virginity?" she asked.

"I don't know if I had before the accident, but if I didn't, I was 19 almost 20," I said.

She looked away and said, "A week ago, Tony and I had sex. He dumped me last night because he said that he had fallen in love with some other girl named Angie. He said she was 16 and beautiful."

"Oh Michelle, I'm so sorry. If he chosen someone over you, than he doesn't deserve you. You have so much going for you. You are going to go a lot further than he does. You'll find a better man, believe me," I said softly.

Michelle got up and walked into the bathroom. I glanced at the clock and saw that it was 8:30. I yelled, "I'm leaving for work now. I'll call you when I go on break." When I didn't get a response back, I grabbed my keys and walked out the door.

As I was driving to work, I thought about Michelle. 'She swore never to have sex until she was in love. I knew she had feelings for Tony, but not love. He was too immature for love,' I thought. But then my thoughts drifted to myself. 'Did I have sex before the accident? I know I slept with three guys: Steve, Brad, and Austin. Steve was a guy I knew from high school, I guess. He was there for me after I got out of the hospital. We tried dating, but it didn't work out. He's now married with a kid. We still talk, just not as much. Brad was a guy that I met at a club. He was charming, but he was the kind of guy that didn't know what he wanted. I didn't like that, so I broke up with him. Austin, oh god, he was amazing, wonderful, everything. I was engaged to him, but he had hit me, so I said good-bye. I also later found out that he had slept with my best friend. That was two years ago. That is also why I had Michelle move in with me. I haven't been on a date since then. I guess I'm scared of getting my heart broken again' I thought. I parked my car and walked into the firm.
