Chapter Twenty Five

~It is now September 30~

"Your thinking about him again," said Anne.

I looked over at my co-worker and grinned, "You know it."

"I think someone's in love," she said, stressing on love.

"Yeah, yeah," I said.

"Did you talk to him last night?" she asked.

"Yeah," I said as I gathered my things together.

"I'll c-ya later," she called as I walked toward the door.

"Bye," I said and left. I walked over to my car and unlocked the door. I got in and put the car into drive.

As I drove down the road, I looked around and you could tell it was almost October because all the tree's leaves are changing color. It was September 30 and Chris was coming to visit me tomorrow and then we're heading up to Clarion. He's in the parade and is very excited. I smiled at the thought of him.

When I got into the apartment, Michelle was sitting in the living room and talking on the phone. "Oh hey, she's right here," she said.

"Phone," she said to me and tossed it to me.

"Who is it?" I mouthed to her.

"Dani," she mouthed back.

'Dani?' I thought to myself. "Hello," I said.

"Hi Jen," she said.

"So, what's up?" I asked.

"Nothing really. Are we still having that double date tomorrow?" she asked.

"Uh, yeah," I said.

"Are you still seeing, what's his name? Scott?" she asked.

"No," I said, "I'm seeing someone new, his name is Nick."

"Really. I can't wait to meet him," she said. Someone said something in the background. "Hang on Jen," Dani said and covered the phone. She came back on and said, "I have to go but we're flying out tomorrow and going straight to your apartment, okay?"

"Okay," I said, "Bye."

"Bye," she said and I hung up the phone.

"So you guys are double dating, huh?" Michelle said, "interesting."

"Shut up," I said and walked into my room.

"I already picked out your outfit," she said and handed me the clothes. She picked out a black skirt and a white top with a tint of red to it.

"Thanks," I said. I walked out of my room and into the bathroom. I got a quick shower and walked back into my bedroom. I put on my nightclothes and lay down on the bed. I didn't bother to turn the alarm clock on because I didn't have to go to work tomorrow. I closed my eyes and soon fell asleep.

I woke up around 10:00am and got out of bed. I walked into the kitchen and got something to eat. When I got down eating, I walked into the bathroom and washed my face, brushed my teeth and hair. I then walked into the living room and sat down. I picked up the phone and called Nick.

After three rings he answered, "Hello?"

"Hi Nick," I said.

"Oh, hey Jen. We still on for tonight?" he asked.

"Yeah," I said.

"Cool, I'm glad we're going out on a date again. I really like you," he said sincerely.

I smiled at his sweetness; "I like you too."

"What time should I pick you guys up?" he asked.

"Um, probably around 6," I said, "they should be coming over here around 5 and they probably want to freshen up."

"Okay. Well, I have to go. I'll see you tonight," he said, "Bye."

"Bye," I said and hung up the phone. I turned on the TV and began to watch a movie.

It was around 3 when I decided I was bored and I wanted to do my hair. I decided on spiraling my hair, so I walked into my room and turned on the curling iron.

When I was almost done with my hair, Michelle walked into the room and sat down on my bed. "Your hair looks nice," she said.

"Thank you," I said. When I was done with my hair, I put on my outfit for tonight. I began to put on my make up when the doorbell rang.

"I got it," Michelle called.

Five minutes later, someone said, "Nice place."

When I turned around, there stood Dani. "Hi," I said, "how was the flight?"

"Fine," she said and sat on my bed.

"Really," I said.

"Yeah. So, what's this Nick like?" she asked.

"He's nice, quiet, but nice. He's from Atlanta. I have a picture of him, do you want to see it?" I asked.

"Sure," she said.

I opened the top drawer of my dresser and handed it to her.

"Why was it in your drawer?" Chris asked, finally speaking.

"I don't like to have pictures up because I feel weird, it seems like they're watching you," I explained.

I looked up at him and my mouth dropped open. His hair was cut short and he looked fine. I quickly recovered and turned away. "Do you guys want a tour of the place?" I asked.

"Sure," Dani said, standing up.

"Okay," I said, also standing up, "this is my room."

"Duh," Dani said and left the room with Chris following her.

I looked into the mirror and said, "This is going to be a long day."

I walked out of my room and into the living room where Dani, Chris, and Michelle were having a conversation. Suddenly, the phone rang. I picked it up and said, "Hello?"

"Hey, is Chris there?" said the unfamiliar voice.

"Yes, but may I ask who's calling?"

"Justin."

"Okay, hang on," I said and covered the phone, "Chris, the phone's for you. I handed him the phone and he began to talk to Justin.

"Who was that?" Dani asked.

"Justin," I said.

"Oh," she said.

I looked over at Michelle and she was looking down at the ground. "Are you okay?" I asked her.

She looked up and put a fake smile on her face, "Yeah."

I shook my head slightly in disappointment.

"Um, Dani," Michelle said.

"Yeah," Dani said.

"Can I ask you a question?" Michelle asked.

"Sure," she said.

"It's sort of personal, can you come into my room?" Michelle asked.

"Yeah," she answered and followed Michelle into her room.

I walked into the kitchen and poured my self something to drink. Chris walked in and I asked, "What did he want?"

"Nothing really, he said he might come up tomorrow," he said, not looking me in the eyes.

"Oh," I said, "do you want something to drink?"

"No," he said, "I like your hair like that. It looks good."

"Oh, thank you. I like your hair too," I said, then started to laugh because we were talking about each other's hair.

"What's so funny?" he asked.

"Nothing, just the fact that we were comparing hair, saying how nice it was," I said.

He then began to laugh also.

"Why'd you cut your hair?" I asked.

"Just to be different, I guess," he said.

"It does look very nice, very becoming on you," I said.

"So, tell me about this Nick," he said.

I couldn't tell if he was just curious or jealous by his tone. "Well, I met him through his father. He's a lawyer and he lives not far from here," I said.

"What time is he coming over?" he asked.

"Around 6," I said.

"So, he should be here in about a half an hour," he stated.

"Yeah," I said.

Just then, Dani walked in and said, "Could I have some water?"

"Sure," I said and got a glass out. I got the water out of the fridge and poured some into the glass. I put the water back and handed her the glass.

"Thanks," she said.

"Your welcome," I said.

Half an hour later, the doorbell rang. I got up from the couch and opened the door. There was Nick holding roses in his hand. "Hi Nick, who are those for?" I asked.

"For you," he said and handed them to me.

"You shouldn't have," I said and opened the door more so he could come in. I walked into the kitchen and set the roses on the table. I walked back into the living room and said, "Chris, Dani, this is Nick. Nick, this is Chris and Dani."

"Hey," Nick said.

"Hello," Dani said.

"So, are you ready?" he asked.

"Yeah," I said and walked out the door with the rest of them following.
