Chapter Three

Later that night, around 6:00, I arrived home. When I walked in, I saw Michelle sitting there. "Michelle, what are you doing home?" I asked.

"Lisa wasn't feeling good today, so we decided not to go out, but tomorrow we are. Tomorrow we're going to Kennywood, wanna go?" she asked.

"I don't know," I replied.

"Lisa is bringing her sister Rachel, you remember her right?" she asked.

"Yeah, so it'll be like a sister/friend outing?" I asked.

"Yup!" she exclaimed.

"Well, I guess, since its on a Saturday," I said.

"Guess what I saw three times today!" Michelle said excitedly.

"I dunno," I replied.

"I saw the 'N SYNC video, I think I'm in love. Did you know that 'N SYNC stands for the last letter in each of their first names: JustiN, ChriS, JoeY, LansteN, and JC," Michelle said.

"Who the hell would name their kid Lansten?" I asked.

"Oh, that's just a nickname. His real name is Lance," she answered.

"How do you know all of this?" I asked.

"I went on their web site, www.nsync.com," she said.

All I could do was laugh at her.

"What," she said. "You are obsessed," I said.

She then threw a pillow at me and said, "Am not."

"Whatever you say, sister dear," I said and threw it back at her and smiled.

I walked into the kitchen and got something to eat. As I began to eat my meal, the phone rang. I was reaching over to grab it when Michelle yelled, "I got it," and jumped over the couch and grabbed the phone.

"Hello...Oh, hey mom...yeah...the same one, every single time...I know, I know...yes...no...I love you too...okay, hang on," she said and covered the phone and said to me, "it's mom and she wants to talk to you. Are you home?"

"No," I replied because my mother has been quite annoying lately and has been trying to set up dates for me.

"Mom, she's not here right now...really mom, she's not here...no, I'm not lying...huh?...okay, love you too mom...bye," Michelle said and hung up the phone.

"You know," Michelle began, "you can't avoid that woman, that gave birth to you, the rest of your life."

"I know, it's just that I don't want to date right now," I said.

Suddenly not hungry anymore, I got up and set my plate in the sink.

"You can't avoid dating the rest of your life. I mean, if you like, had someone from 'N SYNC fall in love with you, would you turn them down?" she asked.

"If they were spoiled brats, then yeah, I would. Then morals would set in too because aren't they all younger than me?" I asked, "no wait, all except one are younger than me."

"Who cares, they're hot," Michelle said back.

"I care, what happens in 20 years if he's ugly, has no money, has a bad attitude, an alcoholic, and we have nothing in common?" I yelled to her even though she was only standing a few feet away.

"I was just messing with you Jen. Like we would ever meet them," Michelle said and sat back on the couch.

'Your right, like we would ever meet them,' I thought to myself.
