Chapter Thirty Five

The next morning I woke up with an excruciating headache. I sat up in bed and discovered Michelle sitting at the edge looking at me, “Do you need something?”

“You were so over that guy yesterday,” she said with disgust.

“So?” I shot back.

“Your such a slut,” she mumbled and stood up.

“What did you say?” I questioned, not quite sure I heard her.

“I said, ‘You're such a slut,” she repeated, raising her voice.

“Get out of here,” I said quietly.

“Gladly,” she said and left.

I stood up and realized that I had the same clothes on from yesterday. I quickly changed into a pair of jeans and a tee shirt. A sudden knock on the door made me jump. “Come in,” I said as I pulled up my hair.

The door opened and there stood Bev, Chris’s mom, whom I haven’t seen forever. “Bev!” I said and gave her a hug.

“Hello,” she said happily, ”you’ve grown up quite a bit.”

“I know,” I said smiling.

“I have four young ladies down stairs, who are anxiously waiting for you,” she said smiling.

“Well, I must not keep them any longer,” I said as I followed her downstairs.

“Jen!” Molly and Kate said at the same time and each gave me a hug.

And then there was Emily who was pretty much a baby last time I saw her,“Hi Emily,” I said.

“Hi,” she said shyly.

Then there was also another little one sitting on the floor, her tiny eyes peering up at me. I bent down next to the little girl and said, “And you must be Taylor.”

“Yes I am,” she said.

“It’s very nice to meet you,” I said.

“It’s nice to meet you too,” she said politely. She seemed very mature and smart for her young age.

I stood up and looked at Bev, “Where is everyone else at?”

“They left a few minutes ago,” she said.

“Good because I say, all of us should go shopping,” I said.

“Oh no, you girls can go. I’ll stay here with Taylor,” Bev said.

“Nonsense, you can come with us,” I said.

“No, no. It’s fine. I’ll stay here, you four go,” she said.

“You sure?” Molly asked.

“Yes,” she said and walked into the kitchen.

“Are you guys ready?” I asked.

“Yeah,” they all answered and soon we were in Molly’s car, driving to the mall.

“I never thought I'd see you again,” Molly said when we stopped at a red light.

“I never thought I’d see any of you either,” I said.

“It was a big shock when Chris told us that he found you. We were sure you left Pittsburgh for California with your brothers,” Kate said.

“I couldn’t even imagine living with my brothers,” I laughed.

“Is Michelle your sister?” Emily asked.

“Yeah,” I said, “Why?”

“I don’t know, I’m just not sure if I like her very much,” she answered.

“She takes awhile to get used to,” I said.

“Is she a slut?” she asked.

“I know what your talking about Emily. God, she seemed like such a ho last night,” Molly said.

“Why? What happened?” I asked, totally confused.

“When we came over to the house last night, Justin and Michelle were making out pretty heavily. I’m surprised they didn’t do it,” Kate said, entering the conversation.

“They already did,” I said quietly.

“What!” they all yelled in shock.

“When?” Molly asked.

“Like last year,” I said.

“Oh my,” Kate said.

“So,” Molly said slyly, ”Who’s that guy you were with last night?”

“Chris was so jealous,” Kate said added.

“How’d you find out?” I asked.

“That’s all Chris talked about this morning,” Emily said, stressing on all.

“Wasn’t Dani getting mad?” I asked.

“Dani is like never here. He either goes to her house or they’re out on dates,” Kate said.

“What was he saying?” I questioned in disbelief.

“He was flipping out because this was your first day down here and you’re already with a guy. He said how you’re probably not going to spend anytime with him and that you were smashed last night,” Emily said.

“He also said that you probably left with that guy,” Kate added.

“That’s not true,” I said.

“I know. I heard you come in last night,” Molly said.

“Did I wake you up?” I asked, concerned that I did.

“No, I was up watching TV. I also talked to Maricar after you went to bed,” she said.

“Oh,” I said, “What did you two talk about?”

“Nothing really. Just about her new boyfriend and how she saw Justin at the club with two girls hanging all over him,” she said.

“I know, I saw him too,” I said as we pulled into the parking lot.
