Chapter Thirty Six

“This shirt is so cute,” Molly said as we walked into Rave. It was a purple shirt with light blue streaks over it.

“Yeah, it is,” I said, as I looked at the price tag, “$3.50, not bad.”

“Nope, I think I’m going to get it,” Kate said and snatched it from Molly.

“Hey,” Molly said as the shirt was taken from her, “I saw it first.”

“So?” Kate said as she walked further into the store.

“Look at this red one,” I said, lifting it up from the rack.

“That’s cute,” Emily said.

“I think I might get it,” I said as I looked through the next rack.

I got five shirts and a leather skirt from there. We shopped around a little more until we decided to leave. “So, what should we do tonight?” I asked.

“We should go out and eat at that restaurant, Ardiente,” Emily said.

“But isn’t that a club too?” Molly asked.

“Yeah, but I heard it had great food,” Emily said smiling.

“Sure,” Molly said, not quite believing Emily.

“Please!” Emily begged.

“Fine,” I said laughing.

When we arrived back at their house, there was a dark blue car sitting in front of the house. “Whose car is that?” I asked curiously.

“Evan’s,” Molly said.

“And Evan is whom?”

“My boyfriend,” she said.

We got out of the car and walked inside. The man, I assume is Evan, was sitting on the couch in the living room watching “Snow White” with Taylor.

“Hey you,” Molly said and kissed Evan on the lips.

“Hi,” he said as she sat down next to him.

Kate and I walked into the kitchen and sat down at the table. “Are you seeing anyone?” I asked her.

“Nope,” she said.

“Then I’m going to have to get you the hookup with someone,” I said.

“Okay,” she said.

We sat there for a while until Kate asked me about my life. “You wanna know about me?” I asked.

“Yeah, what’s been going on with you?”

“Nothing really,” I said.

“Come on, there has to be something. Mom didn’t really want us to say anything, but we heard about what happened in Pittsburgh,” Kate said sincerely.

“You did?” I said weakly as memories hit me.

“Yeah, is there anything we can do for you?”

“No, no,” I said as tears fell from my eyes.

“Here,” she said and handed me a tissue, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said anything.”

“It’s alright, the question was bound to have surfaced soon anyway.”

“What happened?” she asked.

“It’s a long story,” I said.

“I’m not going anywhere,” she said.

“Fine,” I said and told her the whole story.

“Wow,” she said, “that must have been very traumatic.”

“It was, but you have to move on in times like these.”

“That is so true.”

“New Subject. Do you wanna get ready for tonight now?” I asked.

“Sure,” she said.

We walked upstairs and got Emily. We walked into Kate’s room and changed into the clothes we bought today. I put on my leather miniskirt and my slinky, blue glittery shirt.

Kate put on a pair of flares and a black shirt with gold streaks across it that also ties in the back.

Emily had a pair of shorts on with a silver top. Kate and I fixed her hair so that it was up and we both left our hair down.

As soon as we put some makeup on, we were done. We walked downstairs and went into the living room to find that Evan and Molly were getting ready to leave.

“I’ll catch you guys later,” she said as she left.

“Do you guys want to go now?” I asked.

“Yeah,” they both said and soon we were there at Ardiente. It didn’t seem that crowded, so we had no problem getting in. After we ate out meal, Emily announced, “I want to go to the club.”

“But your too young,” Kate said.

“Can’t you sneak me in? You and Chris used to sneak Justin in,” Emily whined.

“But Justin was cute,” Kate said jokingly.

“Ooo dis,” I said.

“I am cute too,” Emily defended herself.

“We could sneak her in,” I said.

“Yeah, we could,” Kate said.

“Come on,” I said as put some money on the table.

We walked over to the door and into the club with no problem. We sat down at a table and Emily said, “Look at that babe over there.”

The guy must have heard her and he turned around. “Hey,” he said with a smirk.

“Hi hottie,” she said.

Kate and I looked at each other and laughed. “I’m going to go dance,” I said.

I got up and started to groove when a guy came up behind me and tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around and said, “Yes?”

Chris stood there with Emily beside him. Kate was standing behind him looking very furious. Justin, Michelle, and Joey were standing next to her.

“Why did you bring Emily here?” he asked harshly.

“She wanted to come here,” I said nonchalantly.

“See Chris, I wanted to come here,” she said.

“You shouldn’t have brought her here,” he said, totally ignoring Emily.

“So, what’s it to you?” I asked.

“She’s my sister, not yours,” he said, raising his voice, “and what’s up with her looking like you? I don’t want my sister to look like a whore.”

“What did you just say,” I said, taken back by his cruel words.

“I basically said,” he spat out angrily, “you dress like a whore and I don’t want Emily to dress like that.”

“Wait a minute. If I'm a whore, what does that make you? Pimp daddy?. You had me believing that you broke up with Dani and I almost had sex with you. You are a son of a bitch who needs to come down off of his high pedestal,” I yelled to him.

“What?” Emily said.

The whole club was looking at us as we fought.

“So what? I wanted an easy lay,” he said apathetically.

“You what? You just wanted to fuck me and not care if you hurt my feelings or Dani’s?” I yelled.

“Basically,” he said with a smirk.

That smirk just pushed me over the edge. I slapped him hard across the face.

“Bitch! What the fuck was that for?” he shouted as he brought a hand to nurse his swollen cheek.

“You are such a bastard. Don’t you ever come near me again or I swear to god, I will beat the ever living shit out of you,” I screamed. I pushed past him and ran out of the club. I ran down a few blocks until I came to a gas station. I quickly dialed Maricar’s number, praying that she would be there, “Come on. Pick up the phone.”

“Hello?” she answered the phone.

“Maricar,” I managed to say before I let out a sob.

“Jen, what’s wrong?” she asked, concerned for me.

“I can’t tell you here, but will you come and get me?” I cried into the phone.

“Where are you?”

“Sunoco.”

“I need more of a description,” she laughed.

“Your right,” I laughed too, “I was at Ardiente, before I left.”

“I know where you are. I’ll be there in a little bit,” she said before she hung up.

I walked over to a bench and sat down. I fixed my mascara and ran my hands through my hair.

A car full of high school boys pulled up in front of me and one of them shouted, “Hey baby, you want a night of passion.”

“Yeah,” I said walking closer to him. His buddies were all quietly congratulating him.

“Okay, baby. Hop in,” he said and pushed some of the guys out of the car.

I bent down, closer to him and said, “Yeah, I want a night of passion, but with a real man.”

All of his friends laughed as I walked away into the store. From inside, I kept an eye out for Maricar. She just pulled in as that kid walked into the store.

“You’re quite a feisty one, I bet. I can handle you. I’m all man. Want me to show you?” he asked.

“That’s quite alright,” I said and walked out of the store. I got into Maricar’s car and said, “About time.”

“Sorry,” she said as she pulled out of the gas station.
