Where Your Road Leads

The waves crashed onto the shore as Laura sat, waiting patiently for him. The sun, starting to paint it's beautiful colors against the early evening sky, still kept splashes of the most gorgeous blue there above her. Laura watched the seagulls fly out over the ocean, and it seemed the warmest breeze softly brushed her skin and gently combed through her hair. She pulled her knees in close to her body to hug them gently, rocking back and forth, as thoughts flowed uncontrollably through her mind. She had waited so long just to feel the soft skin of her angel close to hers, and she thought of the miracle their love had seemed to be. Laura wished for nothing more than to see a tender smile forever on his face, and if that couldn't be, her only request would be to hold him through the difficult times.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I believe in miracles, I believe in signs
And I believe that mountains move
One prayer at a time

If I could be an angel
I'll make your every wish come true
But I am only human, just a woman loving you

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Laura came to her feet, tilting her head up to meet the setting sun, slowly running her fingers through her hair. The light blue dress that she had worn seemed to hug her every curve, and the gentle breeze had begun to bring a slight chill to the air. Walking to the edge of the water, Laura embraced herself gently, running her hands up and down her arms to take the cold away from her bare skin. Staring out over the water, she reflectively thought back to every heartfelt word shared between the two, and found herself temporarily lost in the reverie of what the night could bring. She knew that, face-to-face, they had both planned on saying so many things, but Laura feared that the words might not find their way. Closing her eyes for a moment, her mind traced over her heart.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Where your road leads I will follow
When your heart bleeds I'll be there for you
When your night grows dark
And you can't find your tomorrow
Then you can follow me

Someday we'll look back and see our footprints in the sand
Sometimes you would carry me
Sometimes you'd be in my hands

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Laura dropped her hands down around her waist, backing slowly away from the water. She sat where she was just minutes before and glanced at the silver watch that rested on her wrist. It seemed she had been waiting an eternity to find his eyes, and her heartbeat quickened at the thought of his lips softly brushing hers. They had both waited so long, and now the moment was just before them. Their love had found it's way through the tough times, and it's survival proved it's strength. Laura brought her knees up to her chest once more, this time resting her head on her arms, and she waited, thinking.

------------------------------------------------------------

If we can love forever
That won't be long enough for me
I want to hold you tender, be your shelter
All you need

------------------------------------------------------------

He spotted her, there in the distance, merely a silhouette against the bright colors of the sunset, but still an image. This moment, as she had always told him it would, took his breath away. He ran his hands down his shirt and then through his hair. His heart rate quickened, for with each step, he was closer...Closer to touching her, closer to looking into her bright blue eyes, feeling her silken hair, kissing her soft lips. He found his breath and stopped, just three feet away from her, letting his eyes fall upon every part of her. He closed his eyes for just one moment, thinking of all that he had wanted to tell her, everything that had been his heart in the months that were now behind them, but still, so much a part of them.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Where your roads leads I will follow
When your heart bleeds I'll be there for you
When your night grows dark
And you can't find your tomorrow
Then you can follow me

Oh we can be each other's guiding light
Through this long and winding life

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Laura opened her eyes when she felt a presence close to her. Turning her head slowly, her eyes focused on the man that she had fallen in love with. Her mouth opened just slightly from shock, she couldn't find the strength in her to come to her feet. He smiled, kneeling down beside her, and not one word was spoken as of yet. Tears filled her eyes as he stared into her heart. Taking her hand, she slowly reached to him and moved her fingertips down his cheek. He blinked hard, revealing one lone tear that was of nothing but pure joy to have her there in front of him.

He stood, reaching his hands down to her, "Come here, baby," he spoke softly, as he lifted her to her feet. His arms instantly wrapped around her, and it seemed she was right where she belonged.

Laura looked up at him, eyes warm with feeling, "Perfect fit, Baby J?" She raised her eyebrows, smiling, and he reached for her hand. Locking his fingers with hers, he smiled.

"Perfect fit," his eyes tearing, he placed a kiss warm, soft on the lips of the girl that he had grown to love so deeply.

As if they were thinking the same thoughts, there in each others arms, J and Laura looked at each other, never seeming to lose the eyes of the person they loved. They had waited so long to be together, and now the time was right for them, finally.

"I love you," Laura whispered, and J's grin grew.

"I love you, too, poot," he giggled at her as a soft smile formed on her face.

"Come on," Laura kissed him softly and pulled him in the direction of the water, "Walk with your baby hand in hand on the beach."

J smiled, once again, and wrapped his arms around Laura from behind, whispering softly, "I could always throw you in that water, Laura," he giggled and picked her up gently.

"You put me down," Laura smiled from ear to ear, protesting as best as she could.

"Never," He kissed her forehead, holding his angel in his arms. Finally, they were in each other's arms.

When your heart bleeds I'll be there for you
When your night grows dark
And you can't find your tomorrow
Then you can follow me
