* flashback *
They were laying on her bed, watching a movie, she loved being in his arms and she felt safe that way, knowing that he loved her and would never do anything to hurt her.
"I love you so much, Amber."
"I love you too."
He rolled her over so she was facing him and began kissing her softly and gently. Amber closed her eyes and wrapped her arms around him, she loved the feel of his lips on her. She felt him remove his arms from around her and her eyes flew open as she realized he was unbuttoning her shirt.
"Lance, what..."
"Sh, baby, it's okay."
"No, it's NOT okay, I don't..."
"Don't worry, Ill be gentle with you."
"That's not..."
"Come on sweetie, just let me show you how much I love you," Lance whispered in her ear as he slowly slid her shirt off of her. Amber struggled to get out from beneath him, but he was bigger than her and had her pinned to the bed.
"Lance, please, don't...." She was crying now as she continued to fight to get free. Amber didn't really believe he would rape her, but he was acting so unlike himself, and it was beginning to frighten her.
"You know you want to do this." Lance told her as his hand moved down to the button on her jeans.
"No I do NOT want this," Amber screamed as she pushed hard against his chest. He finally gave up and let her go as he jumped up off the bed in anger.
"Damn it, Amber, what the hell is WRONG with you? We've been together two years, TWO YEARS and you still won't let me touch you!"
"Lance, I told you, not before I'm married, that's something that's important to me. You've known that since we started dating."
"Well you know what? I'm SICK of it. You can take your damn little innocent act somewhere else, because I'm through with you." With that he stormed out of the room, leaving her behind him crying and calling out his name to him.
* end flashback *
Lance ran his hand through his hair in frustration. He couldn't believe their relation was over like that, in the blink of an eye. Amber was his life and meant more to him that anything in the world. She had told him as soon as they started dating that she was a virgin, and planned on staying that way until she had a wedding ring on her finger. He has supported her decision 100%, it had been hard, but he knew that it meant so much to her.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he got at himself. What had he been thinking that day? She had begged him to stop, but he wouldn't listen, only thinking of himself. Now, he'd thrown away the best thing that had ever happened to him over something as stupid as sex.
As he sat and gathered his thoughts, he finally decided what to do. After grabbing something from his room, he ran out to his car and drove over to Amber's house as quickly as he could. He got out of the car, ran up to the door, and rang the bell. It seemed like forever before the door opened, and there she stood, the one person he loved more than life itself.
"Lance?" Amber stared at him in shock, she hadn't expected to ever see him again, not after what had happened the week before.
"Amber, baby, I am so sorry about what happened, I don't know what came over me. Please, forgive me."
"I forgave you a long time ago Lance, almost as soon as it happened. I'm not the type of person to be able to stay mad at someone and not forgive them. But I'm not sure if I can trust you anymore, Lance."
"Baby, please, I've been thinking about it all week. I can't stand being without you, you're my whole life. Every time I try and picture my future without you, I can't do it."
"What are you trying to get at?"
"What I'm trying to say is, Amber will be my wife?" He reached into his jacket pocket and produced a small gold band, with a heart-shaped, diamond solitaire on it.
"Oh my gosh Lance, it's beautiful."
"So, will you marry me?"
"I don't know, how can I be sure you aren't just do this to try and get from me what you want?" "Baby, did I really hurt you that bad and make you so untrusting of me? I swear to you, I'm doing this because I love you, no other reason."
Amber looked into his eyes, and something in them told her that he was being sincere. She stood on the porch for a moment, not quite sure of what to do, then a huge smile spread across her face.
"Yes."
"WHAT?"
"Yes, James Lance Bass, I'll marry you."
Lance swept her up in his arms and kissed her softly before sitting on the porch swing, still holding her, and slipping the ring on her finger.
"You won't regret it, baby, I promise."
