My mom used to work in the basement of a hospital sterilizing surgical instruments before she got promoted. Among her co-workers, there was a women who happened to be an alcoholic. One night the women was out drinking and died from too much alcohol. After her death, a lot of wierd things started happening at her work. Things would fly off racks all by themselves, and several of the staff members reported that they had an uneasy feeling when they were working by themselves. They even caught pictures of some of the stuff that happened, but I've never seen them. My mom said that the strange things would happen only on quiet weekends. There was one incident when my mom was in the break room alone and a ruler started floating in the air all by itself, then flew across the table, and started floating again. My mom told the women's ghost to stop, and the ruler dropped back to the table. The ghost never hurt anyone, just spooked some people.

My Sisters Friend
Hi I have a pretty scary one. Well my sisters best friend is like a ghost
magnet thing or something. any way. One night My sis went over to her house
and her parents went to see a movie. So they were sitting there home alone
and watching a scary movie and getting kinda scared. So suddenly they hear
the door open and her mothers voice say " girls we're home". So they were
happy because they were scared from the movie. So they went down stairs,
and
no one was home, the back door was wide open and the dog was throwing
a fit.
Then they called her dad's cell, and they said that they had not
been home,
and no one can imitate her mom's voice. This friend we have
has also seen
many sigtings of a man in black. So if any one sees a man
in black too, I
would love to know.

Real Ghost Story
My story takes place in my Mom and dads house. One day we were all in the
living room and my Mom and dad were sitting on the couch facing the dining
room, and I was facing them asking them a question while they balanced their
check book. As we continued I caught a glimpse of something in my glasses
behind me, at the same time my Mom looked at me and said did you see that.
I
looked at her and said yes and we both said we saw a little old lady
wearing
a red sweater walking from the dining room to the kitchen. We later
came to a
conclusion that it was my great aunt who died in the house several
years
before. She wore a red sweater and was the same height as the ghost.
We also believe there is another spirit in the house although it's never
seen it turns the TV on after you turn it off and at night you can hear
footsteps going up the stairway. To this day these things still happen in
their house.

A Strange Call
This happened to my mother. On Sept. 27 1971 my mother received a call. The caller was an older lady with an Italian accent. The only thing she said was Maria, Maria, and the phone went dead. My mother said she knows it was her grandmother. (who she had watched die several years before, and who she had been very close with). The next day I was born two weeks early. My mom thinks that her grandmother was letting her know I was coming.

The Weirdest Friends
After getting married, my sister and brother-in-law moved into the upstairs
apartment of a beautiful, old, two-family house. Since it was built in 1865,
not much of it was the original house, basically only the basement and one
room were original. After my niece was born, things started happening that
no one could explain but no one really thought twice about them either.
About 3 months after my niece was born, they moved into the downstairs
apartment where the only original room is. We learned that the house used
to
be a funeral home and the one original room used to be where they lowered
the coffins into the basement where the bodies were prepared for funeral
services. The room was always somewhat creepy but never bothered any of
us.
We all loved the room. My sister loved it so much that she put her
anniversary clock in there even though it did not work. One night while
playing a board game in that room, my brother-in-law looked up, looked back
down at his watch and looked up again. He asked my sister when she put a
new
battery in the clock. When she said she hadn't put one in at all when
the
last one died, my brother-in-law took it off the shelf and opened,
exposing
an empty spot where the battery should have been. Every night,
the clock
worked from around 11:00pm to around 5:00am, and every night
when it started
working, the time would be right. Now, in their house,
still with no battery
in the clock, it still works. But only from 11:00pm
to 5:00am.

Strange Things
I could sit here and tell you about a million different stories that have happened to me, my mother, my brother, and my daughter. The most recent incident happened 2 days ago at the video store. My daughterand I were at Hollywood Video renting some movies. I was in the new release section and she was in the childrens section. After I had chosen a couple movies, I went into the childrens section to find her. There she was standing in the aisle alone. No one else was around her. She was talking to herself, quite loudly I might add, saying "stop it already. Leave me alone". I stood there and watched her for a few moments and then said "who are you talking to". She turned around and looked at me and said "uh, no one". I just smiled at her, we rented our movies and went home. Later that night in bed, the subject came up and I asked her again who she was talking to. She replied "I dont know mommy, but someone kept grabbing my shirt and wouldn't let go".
Another more recent incident happed about a month and 1/2 ago. I make crafts in my spare time. I made some really cute egg decorations for Easter. I had made 4 of them in different color and set them on the coffee table. A couple of days later my sister came over to visit. She noticed that one of the eggs was missing. After she left, I search the house high and low looking for the missing egg. It was no where to be seen. At first I thought she had taken it but then I convinced myself that she did since it was gone, gone, gone! A few days later, I awoke around 7 am. I walked into the livingroom. The fake ficus tree had fallen over and was leaning on the couch, covering the cushions. When I picked up the tree, low and behold the missing egg was lying smack in the middle of the couch. The oddest part about the whole thing? That ficus tree is constently falling down (it must not be centered right in its pot). When I put the tree back into place, it kept falling down. I said out loud, "Okay, if there is a ghost here, stand here and hold up this tree". The tree has not fallen over since.
Like I said I could tell you a million stories. My brother has wrecked several cars chasing UFO's. He actually feels he was abducted. He has seen ghosts numerous times, one in fact scaring him out of his wits that he had to move from his home. My mother has experienced UFO sightings (one hovered over our house every year around the same time each year). My daughter has an uncanny ability to see future things and as for me, I have only actually seen a ghost a couple of times. Luckily, the experiences we have had seem harmless enough, but enough to really make you wonder why and how.

Footsteps
i have numberous short stories i could tell. one being, a few years ago
in
the summer, i had been depressed because my best friend had moved all the
way to oregon, when i live in ohio. i was over weight and was contently
putting myself down, and drawing myself from everyone. one night, i stayed
up and was laying in my bed, just staring at the wall and thinking. when
suddenly i began to cry because of my problems. then i heard footsteps about
a yard away from my bed, and then someone gripping my hand, as if to comfort
me. but it made me feel better. and a few nights after that one, i could
hear the soft footsteps, as if they were watching over me to make sure i
was
alright.
i have more short stories also. my brother and i have had numberous
experts
with our names being called. also one time when i was little, i was doing
the dishes, my most hated chore, and i have dropped a butter knife near
my
foot, but it hadnt hit it. within a few minutes my foot was bleeding as
if a
fork had stabbed me.
my mother told me that when i was little i use see
ghosts. my brother and i
shared a room and we had bunk beds, i had the top. suppossively, i came
screaming into their room saying that a ghost was coming out of the ceiling,
so my brother had to sleep on top for a few days. but when i returned to
the
top, it happened again, and thats when i began to sleep with everyone on
my
stuffed animals. then i would make forts, so they couldnt get me, sort of
like the kid off of sixth sense.
but i truly believe that my house is haunted, but not in an evil way, more
of a comforting and soothing spirits. we have our own pet cemetry, so i
think it is them, still protecting us, and making sure we're safe.

More Unexplained Knocks
I came across your site and read the story about the knocks. I don't have a explanation for the knocks but I can say that Harvey is not the only one who has experienced knocks. Years ago back in 1985 my first husband I moved into a house on Woodson Lateral Road in Arkansas. This road had its own set of scary stories told over the years about lights following you down the road at night and then disappearing out of the blue..I personally never seen this happen. But anyway..my husband and I moved into a little white rent house there and we agreed to fix the house up since the house had been sitting vacant for some time due to the father of the previous family had been killed there by his son. The mother had set the son up to kill his father for insurance purposes. (In which both the mother and son went to prison) We had several things happen that were unexplained. First of all..I had a whole bunch of cats. But I had one cat in particularly named Spanky. Spanky was a indoor and outdoor cat. When we first moved in Spanky was fine with the house and he would come in and sleep with us at night. Now you have to understand at that time I was only 17 years old and my first husband and I did not have alot of money to just go right out and by beds or anything since we were just starting out on our own so we slept on a mattress in the livingroom in front of the fireplace because we were redoing our bedroom. This was a two bedroom house. One night I was woke up from my cat hissing and growling and I looked over at my cat and he was over in corner of the livingroom all poofed up with one foot up in the air like he was going to strike out at something..I called his name and normally he would have come running up to me but he didn't. So I went over to him and reached over and grabbed him up and he hissed at me and bit me and leaped out of my arms and ran into the other room. My husband woke up at this point because I screamed because the Spanky had hurt me. He managed to get Spanky and put him outside so we could sleep and Spanky never would come back into the house again after that night. I don't know what scared him but I later believed he sensed something in the house. Our lights would come on and go off by themselves. My father kept assuring me that it was probably electrical problems and offered to have a electrician come out and check my breakers and switches and wiring out and everything checked out okay. We would have things come up missing right after we would lay something down and turn back around to get it and it would be gone. Our second room was always really cold. No matter what time of the year it was. One night my husband and I had left my dads home and we went and picked up something at McDonalds and we were going to take it home to eat it and then we decided to stop at a park close by and eat it there. This was not a big park..it was just a small park.We started eating our dinner and listening to the radio and there was noone else in the park but us because we could see the other parking lots and they were empty and there was only one way in and one way out of the park and we could see the entrance from where we were parked. We started hearing this knocking noise and it kept getting closer and closer. It was knock, knock, knock and then it would pause for a few seconds and it would do it again. Then it sounded like it was knocking on the back of the car..I got scared and told him to start the car and leave. Which he did. I think he was even a little spooked. We left the park and went home. We went to bed and later that night around 2:15 or so we were woke up by the same identical knock outside our bedroom window. Now our house didn't have any trees or bushes up against the house so we knew it wasn't anything like that and the wind wasn't blowing either. The straw that broke the camels back was one evening we came home from town and when we opened the front door my fireplace had a roaring fire in it and my radio was on and I had some beads that hung in the doorway where you would go from in the livingroom into the kitchen and they were swinging back and forth really hard like someone had just ran through them. I was so scared..I ran back outside to the car and locked the doors while my husband went in to look around..I had no pets in the house anymore because Spanky never would come back in the house. All the windows were still locked securely and the back door was still bolted and chained. Noone was in the house. That was all it took for me. We moved out immediately. We never found out what the knocking was or why things would come up missing after we just laid them down. I can personally say I never seen any ghosts. But I really have wondered over the years if there was something in that old house.

Blockbuster Night
I use to live in New Mexico and this place seemed to be a haven for
paranormal activity. one day my friend Nick was staying in my house and we
rented the exorcist.(great movie) anyway, all the lights were off and we were
sitting on the sofa watching the movie when all the sudden we feel something
walk behind us and into the kitchen well, we didn't pay much attention to it
but then when we didn't see anyone walking out of the kitchen we both looked
at each other. towards the end of the movie I saw the light turn on and then
off again. This didn''t suprise me much because I was use to things like this
happening in my house. About a minute or so later, we both here something
scratching the walls outside the house. Then it began crawling unto the side
of my house. this had me scared to death. Nick and I turned pale. the
scratching stopped for a second but then we heard a big thump on the roof.
What ever was on top of my roof jumped up and down about 3 or 4 times until
it stopped and then the tv suddenly cut off. Me and Nick ran into my room
were we found all my sheets and pillows on the floor. We managed to get a few
hours of sleep. The next morning my parents sayd they didn't go into the
kitchen all night and asked us why did we leave the Kitchen window open. My
guess is that whatever walked into my kitchen opened the window and began
crawling unto my wall. Never again did Nick sleep over my house but we still
talk about that one crazy night.

Ghost?
When I was young, about 8 or 9 maybe, it was the middle of the night and I was trying to sleep. We lived in a very small ranch-style three bedroom home, and my parents' room was directly across the hall from the room I shared with my sister. Anyway, I was trying to get to sleep, but a little girl about my age was sitting on the floor in the doorway of my parents' room, and she wanted to play ball with me. She kept giggling and rolling the ball across the hallway to my room and I would cover my head with the blankets and tell her "no", that I was too tired to play. She would come and get the ball, walk over and sit down, and laughing, roll the ball again. After this had happened a few times, I got out of bed, walked past the girl, and to my mom's side of the bed. I woke her up and told her that the little girl would not leave me alone, and she said "What are you talking about?" I pointed to the doorway and said "The little girl in the doorway" and when we both looked, she was gone. I never saw her again. The "rolling the ball" game was something my little sister and I played frequently together when we were supposed to be in bed. We always thought we were being so sneaky and we would just giggle and then hide when we thought my parents were coming. The girl on this night was definitely not my sister, because my sister was sound asleep on the top bunk of our bunkbeds. Oddly enough, I had forgotten that this had happened until my own daughter was about 3. One day she was playing and laughing and the memory came to me like it had happened yesterday, and now I can remember it so vividly. My daughter has the same movements and laughter that the little girl had that night...that is what is so puzzling. Did I see a ghost, or did I see a glimpse of the future?
