Urban Legend?

THIS STORY IS A LOCAL URBAN LEGAND, BUT I'M SURE IT'S TRUE. A FRIEND OF MINE WORKED IN A R.V. FACTORY WITH A SPOUSAL ABUSE VICTIM. SHE WORKED EVERYDAY REGARDLESS OF HOW SHE FELT BECAUSE IT WAS BETTER THAN BEING AT HOME. ONE DAY, SHE CAME TO WORK, PUNCHED IN AND SAT IN THE BREAKROOM. EVERYONE GREETED HER BUT SHE DID NOT RESPOND. THEY FIGURED SHE WAS UPSET WITH HER HUSBAND AND LEFT HER ALONE. WHEN EVERYONE GOT UP TO GO TO WORK, SHE WAS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND. HER HUSBAND HAD BEATEN HER TO DEATH THE NIGHT BEFORE. HOWEVER, HER TIMECARD HAD BEEN PUNCHED. TO THIS DAY PEOPLE SEE HER RUNNING BETWEEN RV'S. MY FRIEND TOLD ME THAT SOMETIMES A COLD WIND WILL BLOW THROUGH THEIR TOW MOTOR WHICH HAS A CLOSED CAB. EVERYONE THINKS SHE'S STILL AT WORK BECAUSE IT'S THE ONLY PLACE SHE FEELS SAFE.

Mirror Reflection

about 2 years ago, i started voulunteering at this old house which is now a museum. i wasn't a tour guide but what they called a paige, i would follow the groups around and if someone was ill or needed to go to the bathroom i would escort them, or maybe even a drink of water. anyway, soon i got a promotion for special events to be one of the young girls hwo lived in the house, they said i looked just like her an i did, i saw the pictures! anyway, i had to dress up and be this girl and stand in her old room....alone! and wait for tour groups to come and i would tell them about her life, well it''s like a 6 story house so it takes like an hour for them to get there and i was waiting in her old room. i sat down in her old chair putting her brushes just right and such on her vanity, then i glanced up into the mirror and she was sitting right next to me. i looked next to me and no one was there then i turned around and she was in the corner, i closed my eyes and just prayed because i was so scared, i opened them and she was gone. i then got up to leave the room and noticed the bed, which i had just made was not made and then i saw her lying in it! she smiled at me, not in a scary way but almost as if it were for good luck to imitate her. i haven't seen her since, well considering i quit after that........i was soooooo scared!

Strange Shoes

I remember my grandma always watching scary things on TV; she just loved it. I lived with her from first grade till fourth grade. i had my own room but i mostly slept on the floor beside her bed. one night i was in bed, fast asleep when i suddenly woke up. i had a bad feeling and i wanted to run to my grandma so i went to my door which was closed but before i could open it i heard footsteps coming. i looked down and saw a type of egyptian looking sandals (golden, shiny, colored gems) under the crack of the door that were walking towards her room so i thought it was her on her way to bed. (gram didn't have any shoes that even minutely resembled the ones i saw) the footsteps were slow and heavy and i heard clicking like the shoes hitting the linoleum. when they passed i opened my door and my heart dropped to my stomach when i saw that all the lights in the trailer were off and found that grandma was fast asleep in her own bed. i stood there for a second and then ran to grandma. i asked her about it the next morning but she said she had no idea what i was talking about. i never told anyone else and i never saw it again BUT my younger sister moved in a few years later and during a casual conversation she mentioned seeing strange shoes one night. her story was almost exactly the same as mine and i had never told her until then!!!

Dark Figure

Another strange event occured at grandma's house just a couple years ago. I was in 9th grade at the time and my sister (the same that had seen the shoes) invited me, her friend, & our youngest sister to sleep over for her birthday. we watched a funny movie then turned everything off & went to sleep. grandma always left a nite-lite on so we could see if we had to use the restroom at night. i was on the couch and the other 3 were on the floor beside me. i fell asleep but then i just woke up for no reason. i sat up and looked around and i was scared to death when i saw a large, dark figure in the chair across from me. it was all black-i couldn't see any features except arms & hands resting on the sides of the chair. it reminded me of the lincoln monument where abe is sitting in the chair. i blinked once and it was still there but when i blinked again it was gone. i ran to my sister's room and jumped in bed with her. i felt like such a big baby but i had recalled the story of the shoes and knew it couldn't just be my wild imagination. i haven't stayed there since.

Is My House Haunted?

I don't know if ghosts are real or not but i know weird things happen here. Nothing bad has happened but it is kinda freaky. This house is pretty old although i'm not sure of the exact age. There are really old love letters and other personal items in the attic that belong to relatives of the owner of the house. we live right beside a mill so there are always mice, bats, & spiders around despite our constant efforts to get rid of them. the environment feels odd but i'm not really scared of it. i don't know why but it doesn't bother me too much. Anyway, at night i hear bumps & thumps, footsteps and voices (usually they seem to be coming from somewhere upstairs) when i know everyone else is sleeping. my cousin hears it too so i can't be crazy. Things are "misplaced" & no one has touched them. our clothes go into the basket and aren't seen again. we joke about the "ghost" we have but i think it might not be a ghost.one candlestick fell off the mantle for no reason at all. the clock in our laundry room stops around the same time at least once a week even though the battery is new. i used to wake up at 4 AM everyday for reasons unbeknownst to me. it sounds like someone is opening or closing the front door when there is no one there (this just happened the other night). i have lived here for a year and the rest of them have lived here for almost 3 yrs. and they have never complained. one night i was here alone and i got a chill and felt like someone was here with me but i couldn't see or hear anything so i confidently said, "if there is anyone here please leave me alone. i don't care if you're here but i don't want to see you or hear you. do whatever you want but don't involve me." i experienced the feeling before but not as strong. ever since i said that i haven't had the feeling return at all.

Old Man Spooky

Alright. I know that paranormal activity can sometimes focus around a person. I am one of those people. I have lots of stories about my benign entity in my childhood home, stuff like doors shutting, water turning on, wierd photos, radios, you name it, he did it. But turning to a more recent page, this January, I went to stay with my mom ( who doesn't live in my childhood home) in Iowa. The house that we stayed in was a run-down, three story house out in the country. We only lived in the first story to save energy and everything was fine. The first week, stuff happened, like things disappearing the moment you turn your back, or lights being left on, when nobody was there but me. Then it started to get a little worse. There would be loud, stomping footsteps on the second floor right above my room. These would last anywhere from 2 to 10 minutes. Every time I heard them, no one else heard them and always slept through it. But the climax was one day, when my mother and I were snowed in and her boyfriend couldn't get to the house, and we were getting firewood for the night. I came out of my room and thought my mom was downstairs putting more wood on the fire so I yelled down for her. I heard faint scratching sounds and then I heard something in the living room. So I went to check it out and right as I came around the corner everything on the chairside table went flying off into the floor. I had no idea where my mom was, but we had a german shepard and he was right beside me almost in my arms. I started to yell for my mom and about that time she came running in the front door. I told her what had happened and she had been outside getting firewood this whole time. The wasn't the last of our friend. We inquired in town about the man who lived in that house, but it was a very close nit small community and nobody would tell us a thing. So later on in March, I was trying to sleep. It was freezing in my room and I thought that maybe the heater had gone out or something. Well, I started to uncover my head to go see, when this old man came in one door of my room, put his face down next to mine, screamed at me and ran off out the other door. I remember his eyes were so crazy, almost as if they were just flopping around in his head or something. I of course screamed. Loudly. No one came to my room. My mom is not a heavy sleeper, so I yelled for her, but still nothing. Finally I fell asleep, and the next day, I was so mad, but mom said she never heard anything. After that, we had a little talk with our old man, and nothing scary ever happened after that. We would find heart-shaped pebbles in one of the upstairs rooms, and occasionally a door would slam, or something would turn up missing, but that was about it. I left at the beginning of May.

Saying Goodbye

This happened to my brother and his wife the night my grandfather died. My grandfather had been sick for 2 weeks or so and ended up in the hospital. We, (the 6 of us kids and my parents), had been very close to my grandfather, he lived next to us our whole lives and my grandmother had been dead for 12 years. My parents and 3 of my brothers, my sister, and myself had all been at the hospital the whole night my grandfather passed, my other brother and his wife were on vacation about 90 miles from the hospital, we had been unable to get in touch with them, so they had no idea that my grandfather was dying. My parents sent us from the hospital around 10:00pm, we had all had our chance to say goodbye and my mom and her 2 brothers wanted a chance to be with their father for awhile alone. At 11:24 that evening in September of 1996, my mom called to tell me my grandfather had passed. Less than 10 minutes later my brother Mike who was on vacation called and asked if Grampy was OK, I told him no, he had just passed away. Mike sounded pretty shaken, so I asked what made him call at this time. Here is his story. It seems he and his wife had hiked one of the 4000ft mountains in New Hampshire earlier that day, and were beat, so they had gone to bed around 10:00 pm. Mike's wife Lori had awoken at 11:24 to find a shape at the end of the bed in their rented cottage. She woke my brother up and the image cleared up, it was my grandfather, standing with both his canes, waving. Mike sat up and said "Grampy is that you?" (Feeling foolish, figuring he was just dreaming.) With that Mike heard my grandfather say "I couldn't leave without saying goodbye, good luck with your company and keep your kids safe". Mike asked what he meant and my grandfather just waved and said goodbye. With that he disappeared. My brother and his wife just looked at each other, unsure whether they had dreamt the whole thing. Lori suggested they call my parents, when he got no answer he called me. He said the spookiest thing was the whole room smelled of pipe smoke, a sweet butterscotch smell, which is what the tobacco my grandfather smoked smelled like. I guess that was his way of saying goodbye to the only one who wasn't at the hospital that night!

The Old Wooden Radio

When I was a kid, I used to live in a house that had a basement. Basically it was divided into two rooms by a center wall. My sister was using the one room for her bedroom and I the other. It was a really creepy night as I was home alone. I went to go to sleep, my sister came home later in the still of the night. I heard her flop down on her bed as she conked out. I fell back to sleep. Later I turned over in bed and woke up. I was stairing at the shadowy figures a room makes at night. Then suddenly I heard a angelic choir singing from way far, almost inaudible. The more I listened, it became a little more audible. There are no churches nearby and certainly there wasn't a car outside the house playing choir music. I got up to look around and there was a mysterious glow coming from an old wooden radio we had kept in the basement. It was one of those big family radios you sat around before TV was invented. I looked at it and noticed that even when its turned on, the big round dial never glowed as I see now. The music was heavenly, kind of low and soft. I looked at my sister to see if she was maybe playing a joke. She was sleeping away and when I tried to wake her , she said I should go back to sleep. I went to turn the radio off and noticed that it was already off. So I toggled the switch , all the radio lights flashed on and off. I turned it back on to see if the channel it was set to might still be broadcasting the angelic singing. It just wasn't there. The setting the dial was on just was not broadcasting anything and the glow was long gone with the normal dial lights lit up. In turning the radio off and later it ended up with the salvation army, maybe someone else will have their spooky story to say of the Old Wooden Radio.

The Twin

This is What happened to my dad. It was about 5:00 in the morning. He had woken and saw something at the end of his bed. When he took a closer look he thought it was me sitting at the foot of his bed. He said that it was wearing a black dress with a black hat and had a bunch of tissues. He thought he was dreaming so he went back to sleep and about 5 minutes later he woke woke up startled because the foot of his bed jerked and he saw it turn of the light shut the door and walk away. Later that day we got a phone call saying my uncle (which he was really close to ) had died that night. The next day we were getting ready for the service and I came out of my room ready to go and walked into the kitchen where my dad was and he let out a small frightend scream and I said what's wrong. He said your the thing I saw at the foot of my bed. You have your hair comed the same way and your wearing the same hat and dress and you have the tissues in the same hand too. We never have figured out if it was just telling him his future or what. we've never seen her again, but both of us see the same ghosts and have the same encounters. So i'm still waiting to see my Twin.
