Scared?

Good question. Whats the big deal about the year 2000? It definately is a bit different from when the year changed 1999. First off, its the first time that all 4 digits have changed in 40 generations. Yep, 1000 years ago they all changed, but thats a rip off, people were too busy fighting back in the year 1000 to worry about what the new year was like.

But the year 2000 is just that, a number. It has no scientific significance. Hey, if youre the type who goes by Julian days, January 1, 2000 was really just another day. A Julian day starts at noon every day. 12:00 PM, January 1 of 2000 was the 2,451,545th Julian day, definately not worth a big deal. And to think there would be no Y2K if we went by Julian days.

How about Lunations? A lunation is the amount of time from new moon to new moon(Around 29 days). On January 6th, we'll observe our 953rd Lunation. Stick around 3 years for the 1000th Lunation. How come they dont make a deal without that? Hey maybe there will be a Y2L. Come to think of it, Im not holding my breath for that.

Ok on to Y2K. Computers shutting down, blackouts, whatever they say would happen. Did anything happen? Did Russian missiles get fired at the US? Was it Armageddon? While we're on the subject of nuclear stuff, I will say that when the closk struck midnight on New Years, 99 of the 100 nuclear plants were in operation, and they didnt even have glitches. Well, now everyone can wait 1000 years until Y3K to make a deal about the year 3000, too bad I wont be around to prove them wrong.
