I Had The Pleasure Talking To
  • BRIAN
  • Guitarist Of The Band
  • DRIST
  • On Oct 17/99.

(EDDIE):How did the band get formed, and where did you get your bands name from?

(BRIAN):I met Tyson (vocals) sometime in 1996, we both liked similar bands at the time and wanted to form a band, we jammed with a buncha people from the area with no luck. In early 97 we hooked up with Dave (bass) and Chris (drums) who were friends of my sister at the highschool she went to.The name Drist came from a quake game. I was playing a game sometime back and the guys nickname was "Drist" and it stuck out in my head.

(EDDIE):Where can we get a copy of your new cd from?

(BRIAN):The new cd "Sterile" we just finished recording.. and you can order it from

    DRIST

    in the merchandise section.

    (EDDIE):What are your tour plans?

(BRIAN):Right now were working on hooking up some shows in LA, and possibly San Diego. Were supposed to have a opening slot for The Bloodhound Gang when they come to San Francisco, so were really looking forward to that.

(EDDIE):What was your most memorable experience making the cd or playing a gig?

(BRIAN):Oh man.. haha on making this recent cd .. we were playing pool, and Dave is talking all sorts of shit about how Tyson was hitting like a wuss, and he goes "lemme show you how its done" had a CLEAR shot and fucks it up and scratches in the corner hahaha .. got it on film too. As for playing a gig, I would say for me it would be when we were gonna open for Kid Rock in San Jose, and he apparently cancelled at the last minute, no one informed us, and we basically played for about 10 people, it was fun, but it was a bummer .. we were looking forward to that show.

(EDDIE):Who produced your cd,and where was it recorded?

(BRIAN):Guy Higbey at Locomoto Productions in Menlo Park , CA.

(EDDIE):How would you describe your sound?

(BRIAN):When we started the band we basically wanted to take all the elements of heavy music that we liked.. be it grunge, thrash whatever and mix it.. so I usually describe it as just metal/hardrock tho I hate generalizing it. Best bet is to check it out and draw your own conclusions.

(EDDIE):If one was to go see you live, what can they expect to see?

(BRIAN):4 guys sweating like hell, hahah.

(EDDIE):What are the bands main influences?

(brian):Off the top of my head, my main influences as of late have been The Cure and some older guitar work by Dave Mustaine, and Dino Cazarez, As for the other guys..collectively they all dig stuff like Alice In Chains, Tool, Metallica.. Tyson likes alot of obscure stuff.. he brings alot to the table in the band.

(EDDIE):If any messages in your music, what are you trying to say to the people, and what do you hope to accomplish?

(BRIAN):That would prolly be a question best answered by Tyson. My goal with the band and music in general is putting out what I feel is quality music. RapRock is a big thing right now, and if thats what you're into .. more power to yah, but remember there are other forms of heavy music out there..dont view the music scene with the blinders set by so many people in high places.

(EDDIE):Any current news or updates you would like to share with all your fans?

(BRIAN):Hmm the new cd is out and I think alot of fans of metal will really like it.. give it a shot, you got nothing to lose.If its not for you, thanks for listening anyways.

(EDDIE):Well thanks Brian for the interview it has been enlightning, your more then welcome to come back again in the future and we will do this again.

(Brian):Thanks Eddie it was our pleasure, and we look forward to coming back.
