• I Had The Pleasure Talking To
  • SEAN KELLY
  • Guitarist Of The Band
  • MONUMENT
  • On Oct 7/99.
  • (EDDIE):How did the band get formed, and where did you get your bands name from?

(SEAN):MONUMENT was formed in 1993 by Sean Kelly/ guitar , Kevin Courtney/durms and , Chad Callaway/bass. Sean came up with the idea to use MONUMENT. We all feel ,that with a name like MONUMENT, we don't label ourselves to a certain kind of musical style and the name can grow with us as the band matures .

(EDDIE):Where can we get a copy of your new cd from?

(SEAN):We have the CD "Resting Place" available on our website:Wich is at the bottom of this page to go to,And thru mail:Send $10.00 U.S. currency/moneyorder, cashiers check or, postal money order to:MONUMENT (payable to Sean Kelly)P.O. BOX 892881 OKC,OK . 73159

    (EDDIE):What are your tour plans?

(SEAN):We are currently supporting our latest release "Resting Place" (a full length CD with 11 tracks). We have already done concert dates in the following cities: Oklahoma City- OK. , Lawton-OK. , FortWorth -TX. , Dallas -TX. , Arlington -TX. ,Salina -KS. , Denver CO. and , Baltimore- MD. We plan to continue to support "Resting Place" until the end of the year and hope to play shows in Tulsa- OK. , Missouri , and any other cities within our southwest region. We would really like to go to Europe sometime next year.

(EDDIE):What was your most memorable experience making the cd or playing a gig?

(SEAN):Recording the CD was a learning experience for us, we had to take a break and do a show in Denver-CO. right in the middle of the sessions but ,that gave us a chance to observe how everything was coming together and have a better understanding of how we wanted the rest of the recording sessions and the overall sound of the CD to turn out.

(EDDIE):Who produced your cd,and where was it recorded?

(SEAN):We self produced the "Resting Place" CD and it was recorded in our home base of Oklahoma City at Premier Studios.

(EDDIE):How would you describe your sound?

(SEAN):MONUMENT has a thrashy, heavy, grooving, feel with an inheret aggressive attitude and melodic overtones. We are all always pushing the envelope of our sound and our talents; striving to become better musicians and songwriters.

(EDDIE):If one was to go see you live, what can they expect to see?

(SEAN):You should expect to see some awesome head gymnastics and gyrating hair. We like to push the crowd and create as much energy as we can. We feed off that energy an audience puts out and sometimes the situation grows into an ocean of chaos. Thats when the fun really starts!!!

(EDDIE):What are the bands main influences?

(SEAN):As a band we all really appreciate the following: NEVERMORE, SOLITUDE AETURNUS,FLOTSAM AND JETSAM,OVERKILL,BRUCE DICKINSON,FATES WARNING,TESTAMENT and SLAYER. We could go on and on but that is a short list.

(EDDIE):If any messages in your music, what are you trying to say to the people, and what do you hope to accomplish?

(SEAN):Our music is based on our thoughts and feelings along with our life experiences. We try to " make it real ! " . We would like to get our music into as many hands as possible and hope to improve our music with each recording.

(EDDIE):Any current news or updates you would like to share with all your fans?

(SEAN):Look for "Resting Place" in the Christmas issue of European Mail Order Products. http://international.emp.de/ MONUMENT plans to due another full length recording in March-April of 2000. We hope to see everyone in the new millennium !!!!!!!!
