I had the pleasure speaking with Toddz & Al
On November 09/2000
(Eddie):Where did you get your band name from and who came up with it?
(Toddz):I came up with the name after reading a book called The Tibetan Book of living and dying. Our first band name was Mantra, but we changed it afther we found another band also called Mantra.I first thought
of Negative Karma, but changed it to This Negative Karma. Hopefully no one else has the same name.
(Eddie):Tell us a little history of how the band formed?
(Al):Toddz is my brother and we were watching a football game between the Viking and Valeringa. (national league) The game was boring so we had to talk about other things. We came up with the idea of combining forces and style of music since Toddz has always been the metal guy, and I was the more rock & roll guy.The other band members were picked by Toddz, and some weeks later we were a complete band. We tried to start with a r&r band, but after about 15 minutes, we were all playing metal, so our style of music came naturally on us all. Our old drummer, Morten Waage decided to join the band Sea of Dreams and leave us. That's was fine for us, and after some weeks, we found Tore Heden, our current drummer and energy spreader! We were so lucky to find him.
(Eddie):Where can we purchase your CD,and how much?
(Al):We don't have any CD's out at the moment, only a compilation Cd that we don't want you to buy. (T
he sound technician that the label gave us sucked, and they refused to give us another one cause he was supposedlly the best!!!?) But you can find some tunes on the net.See our homepage at...

An EP is on the way, and will come in the near future,so keep yourself informed!
(Eddie):What was your most memorable experience making the cd,or playing a gig or
both?
(Toddz):I think both!!!Entering a studio is always a lot of fun,sometimes it`s also a bit boring,listening to a song over and over again.But i a
lways come up with new ideas for a song while I`m in the studio.Playing a gig is also something exiting,I always get a kick, while playing a gig.But unlike a studio if you make a mistake you can`t rewind and play it all over again.
(Al):Playing a gig at Folken in Stavanger was for me the most memorable gig yet. I had worked there as a light technician for some years, and suddenly I was singing and kicking ass on stage! I loved it. The worst experience was the first time I entered the studio to record some tunes. I was totally confused, nervous, sick, depressed, hungry. When I heard the first recording of the vocals, I wanted to hang myself and just die! Now I know how it works, amd what to do, so now I love recording in studios!
(Eddie):What are the bands influences?
(Toddz):There is a lot different influences in this band.I listen to bands like
Pantera,Sepultura,Machine Head,Dark Tranquility,Hypocrisy,System of a Down,Slipknot,Korn,Deicide,Cradle of Filth,Dimmu Borgir,Testament,Antaios( a band I used to play in.)And I`ve been a big Motley Crue fan for over 15 years.
I know our bass player Jani, listens to Metallica and Morten Abel. Our Dummer Tore,is a huge Kiss fan.
Our other guitarist Arild, listens to Steve Vai,Joe Satriani,Ronnie Le Tekro,Judas Priest and old Black Sabbath stuff.Alain: Shit, what a question!?? hehehe,
everything that I have listed to, and everything my brother made me listen to!
(Eddie):How would you describe your bands sound?
(Toddz):Hard and groovy. We got angry songs, meldodic and some slow songs.
(Eddie):If we were to come see you live, what can we expect to see?
(Toddz):ENERGY!!
(Al):You will see the band, but you will experience metal at its best!
(Eddie):Who produced the cd and where?
(Toddz):A guy called Øyvind Grødem, and we recorded it at his studio called Mansion Studio.
(Eddie):What made you want to become a musician and who if a band or individual?
(Toddz):For my part I have to say Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue. And I`ve always loved music.
(Al):Some teachers in school said I had a very nice voice.I didn't beleave them, so I didn't start singing before I was 18 years old. By then I had worked alot in the music business, mostly doing lights for live shows. One night I told myself that I have listen to so many bad bands that plays alot in clubs, and I knew I could do better, so I just said fuck it and gave it a shot and started singing with a band called the Safts. That didn't work, so I started with my brother, and I am still here!
(Eddie):Any new information for your fans or future fans?
(Toddz):Well, we have plans to record a new E.P. But we want to play a couple more gigs, before entering the studio in november or december.
(Al):The EP will come out in the beginning of 2001, and the name of it will be "Life causes Cancer" It will be in a shop near you soon, or on the net!
(Eddie):Well guys a very informative interview and we here at KrazyEddie Promotions wish you the best of success.
