This head is being built for performance and durability.
This is the plan:
Magnaflux the head, port the chambers and intake and exhaust, unshroud the valves, drill extra steam holes, deck all three sides flat, install Durabond cam bearings, grind the ridge off of the valve face and set up the valves, match the exhaust and intake manifolds to the head. I will be using the A-237 cam and high performance springs. Click here to see the cam spec's.
I started out with a cTp head with the correct chamber shape but probably not from a turbo car. This is good because the valve seats are not cracked. I had it Magnafluxed before starting. Click to see the head.
This head probably came from a Mustang with AIR injection. It has the holes in the head for it. I will fill these holes before porting.

First I flowed the head. The head flows 145 cfm at 28 inches in stock form. This should be easy to improve upon. After porting the intake flows 176 cfm. Click here for the Intake Flow report. The exhaust flowed 118 stock and flows 143.5 after porting. Click here for the Exhaust Flow Report. The swirl is greatly improved. Click here for the Swirl Report. The swirl curve is now an even arc. The original swirl numbers showed a drop, then a spike, then a drop.

The AIR holes have been filled in.
The combustion chamber has been ported and polished. The chambers are 67.0 cc's which will give a ~7.6 CR with a stock head. I will give the head a cleanup cut so it may go a little higher but not much. Click here to see the ported chambers.
The intake has been cleaned up and slightly ported to maintain flow.
The exhaust has been ported out to 1.40 inches from 1.25 inches to get maximum flow.
New stainless valve seat inserts have been installed and blended to the ports.
