1. Look over the
sky-map printout. Use a highlighter to highlight information about stars
and to circle constellations. This will familiarize you with the vocabulary
and with the constellations.
2. On the
process page, you will find two buttons, one for stars, one for constellations.
Each will send you to a web-worksheet that will help you organize your research.
Print out all you need.
3. Using the
web-worksheet, gather information on the labeled topics. Use the reliable
Internet sources from the process page. Cite the URL of each source used.
You may add rays to the star if there is a topic you want to research. However
the 5 labeled topics are required.
4.
You may then choose to either write a research paper or science book about
your research on EITHER stars OR constellations. ALL WRITING MUST BE IN
YOUR OWN WORDS. PLAGARISM is NOT ACCEPTABLE. Your research
paper or book will be graded for focus, content, organization, style, and
the conventions of writing.
5. After your
research paper or science book is completed, you may name your own constellation
using one of the sky patterns in this month's sky. This will require the
sky pattern's re-creation using whatever media you'd like (for example--a
clay model, styrofoam, painting, pencil drawing, etc.). Write a brief myth
or story about the new name you gave the constellation.
6. Present
your constellation and myth to the class.
