OLIVIA'S HANDPRINTS

As parents we check out our children from head to toe when they are born. We attempt to figure out whether our babies have inherited our nose, ears, hairline, etc. Is it the mothers’ or the fathers’? Well I can tell you, Olivia looked like Dan. She did have my ears, my skin complexion, and my eyes. But, the one thing that I marveled at was her hands. But where she inherited them I don’t know. They were actually quite large for a baby who was only 36.5 weeks old. She had long fingers and broad hands. I remember them waving and opening and closing frequently on the sonogram. And, when she wrapped her fingers around my finger, they went the whole way around. Her nail beds were oval shaped with long fingernails already. I admired her hands, wishing that my own hands were like hers. I so admired them, that they have become the background for this page. So what you are seeing are her handprints.

Your Hands

I will never get discouraged
Because you were so small
And you will never leave your fingerprints
On furniture and walls

I will never watch you grow
Or be grown up some day
And all those tiny fingerprints
Will never have the chance to fade away

So here's the only handprint
Just so that I can recall
Exactly how your fingers looked
When you were very small

And We Loved You All of Your Life.....
