Dahi Wada



A traditional Indian Appetizer with potato stuffing

Ingredients :


1 cup urad dal soaked overnight
1/2 cup water
2 green chillies
2 cups yogurt
3 potatoes boiled & chopped
1/2 cup peas boiled
1" piece ginger
2 cloves garlic
5 curry leaves
1 small onion sliced finely
a handful of corriander leaves chopped
1 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chillie powder
1/2 tsp garam masala powder
a pinch of hing
salt to taste

Method :


1. Grind the dal into a thick paste. Add, salt & green chilly. Keep aside.

2. Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan. Add hing, & mustard seeds & allow to splutter.

3. Add curry leaves, ginger, garlic. Then add onions & fry till pink.

4. When done, add salt, turmeric powder, red chillie powder & garam masala powder.

5. Add the potatoes & peas. Cook on low flame for 5 minutes. Take off from fire & cool.

6. Make about 10-12 balls. Dip balls in the batter & deep fry.

7. Churn the yogurt adding sufficient water, salt & chat masala.

8. Dip the fried balls in tamarind chutney & them in the prepared yogurt.

9. Garnish with red chilly powder & chopped corriander leaves.
