Backstreet Boys - Say, "We are hurt..."

Their heartfelt reply to critics!

Everyone knows that Nick, Brian, AJ, Howie and Kevin have got to be the busiest five guys in the world! As the Backstreet Boys, they've committed their lives to making the best music they can, and making all their fans happy with their romantic tunes. So, they were extremely hurt recently when they accused of dissing a very sick girl whose only wish was to meet her favorite five.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is an organization that grants wishes to children under the age of 18 who have life-threatening illnesses. And the Backstreet Boys, wanting to bring smiles to sick kids' faces, signed on to act as celebrity wish grantors. Last October, the Make-A-Wish Foundation even honored the Boys with an award for being the "1999 Celebrity Wish Grantor Of The Year." In the past two years, the guys have fulfilled more than 10 wishes. Just think, there are 10 ill children out there whose lives were filled with sunshine for just a brief time when they were able to meet their heroes in person!

So Jevin, Howie, Nick, AJ and Brian were all very sad and upset when a Michigan newspaper printed a hurtful story about them, accusing them of not being true to their word when a young sick girl wanted her wish of meeting them to come true. They would never intentionally diss anyone, as their fans know!

"We are hurt by these reporters that we deliberately did not see an ailing child in Detroit," the Boys said in a statement. "We are committed to our fans and whenever possible make eveyr effort to meet as many as possible." Their devoted fans knew there had to be a good reason why the five would not have fulfilled the girl's dream, and there was. "Due to our current tour schedule and the amount of requests we recieve, we're unfortunately unable to meet everyone." They went on in their statement to send their best wishes to the little girl and her family.

Being international superstars, you can imagine the incredible demands these five are faced with. Everywhere they go, they are followed, even chased, by screaming fans who just want to touch them for a second. They cannot possibly please everyone, but they try their best, and that's all we can expect of our favorite five, right?
