St. Alexis came to America
from Poland as a Eastern-rite Catholic priest and a widower. His
not being well-received by the main-stream Catholic bishop in
the US became the first step in his becoming a leading figure
in leading Eastern European, Eastern-rite Catholics back to the
Orthodox Church. His relics were laid to rest at St. Tikhon of
Zadonsk Monastery in S. Canaan, Pennsylvania. His first parish,
St. Mary in Minneapolis, is, I understand, the largest parish
in the OCA today.
