This saber is brass-hilted with a curved, single-edged, 35 1/2" blade tapering to a sharp point. The spine of the blade is flat. Blade is stamped "US / A.D.K." in two lines on the obverse ricasso, and "AMES MFG CO / CABOTVILLE / 1851" on the reverse ricasso. Blade has occaisional splotchy discoloration. No rust, pitting or nicks on the edges.
The brass of the hilt has a mellow, aged patina. It is in perfect condition with no bends, dents or dings. The leather grip and wire wrap are 100% intact and in perfect condition. The leather scabbard washer is 100% intact.
The scabbard of the sword is 100% intact and original. It has surface rust along the edges of the throat and on the scabbard rings. There is minor pitting to the drag. No dents or markings.
Overall, I'd say this sword is in exceptional condition (grade 9).
