What exactly do you mean by "self-portrayals"?
So what's this whole self-portrayal thing about?
Isn't that what your List is about?
How do I submit my story?
1. Try not to use vulgar/obscene language while writing your portrayal. If there's no possible way around that then use * or a period (.) (example: f**k - f..k)
Any questions about the regulations, don't hesitate to write to UDS_concerns
I've never written my own life story, how do I start this out?
Am I going to be the one doing the webpage or are you?
ABCGRAPHICS
If you're doing a portrayal by yourself and you're having trouble send an E-mail to UDSwebmaster and ask for help.
Self-portrayal is just another word for life story.
I've decided on making a new part of this site committed to those that went and are going through tough times. So many people feel alone and even ignored with their problems and having others come out and talk about what they've been going through (or went through) is a great way to make someone realize that they really aren't alone.
Yes, that is one purpose of the List. Self-portrayals will give more detail and because of that the reader might be able to identify with the writer. Maybe even help them see that there is someone out there that has the same exact problem. I've read some webpages and my mouth has dropped because their life story's have sounded a lot like me.
At the end of this page there is a link where you can E-mail the story. Once you've submitted it you'll get a responce in a few days. Below are some rules and regulations before you start writing your story.
2. Don't give out (home) address or phone number. You may use your e-mail address.
3. The webmaster is permitted to link your portrayal to Updated Disorders main page every once in awhile to bring more visitors to your page.
If you've never written a life story you may click here to read a life story. You could also look at other websites for their own personal stories. There are a lot of different ways on going about this. You could start out by the original "I'm so and so and I'm 18. I've lived with depression for this long"
then just go from there. If you get stuck, that happens, don't stress yourself over it. Primarily you want to tell things about yourself, your family, what's been going on in your life, how you feel about your disorder, if you've overcame it give a little hint on how you did it, etc. And remember to title your story!
If you've self-injured yourself you may also explain what type of way you injured yourself, what kind of cuts you've made, how many, etc. If anything is too detailed you'll get an E-mail back about it. Don't worry about that though; just write from your heart.
You can do it if you'd like. There's a lot of free ways to make webpages. Angelfire is one, Geocities, Go and ROTFL Online Services and many many more. Plus if you do this on your own you'll be able to design it with your personality and there again are many places to get free graphics and backgrounds.

If you want someone else to do your webpage then E-mail Anxiety_freak and I'll be sort of like your own personal web designer. You'll have a great deal of say so on what goes on your page. If you decide you want me to do your webpage please beware it might take me awhile to finish it. I'm doing a webpage for my friend and I'm also doing one for my dad.
So you finished your story already? Great!
Make the subject of the E-mail "Story" or if you made your own webpage and you're giving me the address to check it out then make the subject "URL".
