John C. Fry

Born in 1811 in Quemahoning TWP,Somerset County, Pa.
Married to Sarah "Sally" Berkebile Abt 1835 in Somerset Co. Pa.
It is not known when John Fry first arrived in the valley, but according to old maps, he acquired his land on Gravel Hill from Henry Kimmel in 1868.
It is my belief that John C. Fry is buried in the family cemetery on the land that John purchased in 1868.
The cemetery is located on land still owned by my Uncle Elmer Frye. According to him, yearly, as long he can remember, the American Legion places an American Flag on the spot next to Sarahs grave every memorial day. I have been in contact with the legion and have been told that records on why the flag gets placed have been lost, but the records to place the flag, exist. The cemetery located on Gravel Hill in Ligonier Township is the last resting place of the John C. Fry family. Albert's (son of John and Sarah) wife Annie Naugle ,who died at the age of 41 , is buried in the cemetery. Along with Sarah , John's wife, and several infants. All the infants are listed as "unknown". Alberts name is on the headstone along with Annie but the cemetery was no longer being used when he died in 1934.
Birth: Approximated from census data.
Marriage: John`s sister Caroline married Sally`s brother,,,,Levi.
