The ballet that my studio is putting on this year is Sleeping Beauty. I got a solo! Yay! I'm one of the fairies. There are 7: Carrabosse, the evil fairy; the Lilac Fairy, kind of the good fairies' leader; the Crystal Fountain Fairy- me!; the Enchanted Garden Fairy; the Woodland Glade Fairy; the Song Bird Fairy and the Golden Vine Fairy.

The hardest part of my solo is my developes en pointe (kind of like big kicks, while I stand on one foot, on my toes) and skipping on pointe. The really interesting part of Enchanted Garden's (Music Maniac!) is her funky little skip-like step toward the King and Queen. Woodland Glade (who played Eve in Children of Eden!) has to do an attitude (bent leg in front of her) hopping on pointe to an arabesque (straight leg directly behind the body). Poor girl! :) Songbird should be called Hummingbird! Her piece, which includes running on pointe, is the fastest solo. She's so cute doing it! Golden Vine's includes several difficult steps, such as pas de chats en pointe- a travelling jump, entirely on her toes.

June 9, 2001 Sat. : I went shopping yesterday, and got a tiara from Claire's for my costume. I also got new pointe shoes, this time with hard shanks instead of medium. That tutu is TIGHT! We had a rehearsal last Friday. We got to do a picture of our "Charlie's Fairies" poses- I'll post it when it gets developed. Our prince is a very good dancer, and two of the other three are doing very well for a first try. (I don't know about the third, he didn't show up.) We've got another rehearsal Friday. I can't believe that the performance is a week away! AARRRGGGHHHH!!!!

June 19 Yay! I survived! The practice went really well. My whole class went to the mall around lunchtime with our tutus on... it was a stunt worthy of Creation! It took my mom HALF AND HOUR to get my hair up in a bun, but it stayed! Enchanted Garden got stung by a bee on her foot right before she got to the auditorium, but it turned out alright. I didn't mess up on my performance! Yay! And the dance from hell wasn't as bad as it could've been. It was great! I love performing. All of the fairies got a big white rose, and my little twin, a garland girl, gave me a bouquet! I am so thrilled! I got a lot of compliments, too. All in all, it was a lot of fun, and I can't wait until next year!
