Ok, I went to see "The Fellowship of the Ring" in the theaters yesterday (Dec. 28, '01). I'm a picky person in my tastes, especially in my fantasy and my movies, and I have to tell you: I believe that this is the best movie I have ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!
I recommend for everybody to see it- and I'm not just talking people who like fantasy. I'm talking anybody who likes entertainment. It had everything: cute guys/hobbits/elves, terrifying monsters (balrog, orcs, ring wraiths), even more terrifying battle scenes, a romance, amazing visual effects, plot, scenery... It is awesome in every sense of the word!
I think my favorite part was the setting. The entire time I was watching this movie, even in the scary scenes, I was thinking, This place is SO BEAUTIFUL. I mean, it's like the world that they made in this movie is more real than the real world! It's great for thrills- you keep thinking people are dead when they're not, people do get killed (a good deal, actually), Bilbo and Galadriel get tempted by the ring (I think Bilbo and the ring are the scariest part of the whole movie, not counting the battle scenes that make you twitch and want to run in terror)... I've never read the books, but you can bet I'm going to start!
Ok, I have to indulge in a little drooling here. Frodo is cute and Legolas is cuter! Enough about that.... hee hee...
Even besides Legolas and Frodo, the casting is superb. I love the elves and the hobbits, mostly because... well, they look so much like elves and hobbits should look! I think it would've been so much fun to play Galadriel. It would've been a complete blast... even without the part of her turning blue and demonic... lol I won't say any more, my lips are sealed...
I am so totally dead serious here- you have to see this movie!
Jan. 29, '01: I finished reading the last book of the trilogy on Sun., and it rocked! Wahooooo! I'm hooked.
