School's Finally Out!

Hey, say hello to the one of the world's brand-new juniors! After school let out at 10:50 yesterday, a couple of friends and I walked to an Italian restaurant, where we met some more friends and ate until we were all stuffed. Then some of us walked to one friend's house (Buddha and "sightseeing"!) and watched "Never Been Kissed". (Awesome movie, if you've never seen it.) I went to commencement last evening (it was HOT in there!) and cheered for my cousins and older friends. Afterword, I stopped in at a graduation party. Justin was there! Wahooooo! I haven't seen Justin in like, a year! (For my friends from school, no, you don't know him.)

So anyway, summer... Well, my family went through all the old children's books in our storage room today. I was going to clean my room, but you know, best laid plans of mice and men and all that. It really needs done, tho. It's a complete mess, all of it. I need to clean the floor, the desk, the top of the dresser, the drawers, the shelves, under my bed, the closet.... augh, everything!

The ballet is in like, a week and a half, and I don't have my costume yet! Well, you know, I've got the unitard, but that's it. Mom and I need to get to work on it- tail, mits, hair, belt, leg warmers... transform me into a cat! Meow! I'm really pretty nervous about it.

The blessed family picnic is at the end of June (yay!) and then Creation 2002 (also yay!). I'll probably end up splitting my time between my friends' campsite and my youth group's. I'm hoping to see Justin and Nick and Andy and Josh and all those cool people I never see! July is the two week dance workshop, and immediately after, a three week and two day vacation (major freaking out about this being done on my part). This goes far enough into August that it means that I can't junior counsel at children's camp! Nooo! I LOVE that camp. It's in MD, and there's no place like it on earth, seriously. I'm SO gonna miss it! And it's not like I was going to go to teen camp, anyway. They scheduled it over Creation week.

Hey, good news! I got into my school's really cool little singing group! Yay! (For reasons of obtuseness, no, I'm not giving the name. Maybe later.) And then there's the homework... Since I'm taking AP English 11 next year, I have to read three books over the summer and write an essay each on them.... eep! The teacher gave us, like, a tree's worth of paper! But she seems like a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to next year's English class.

I'm lucky. I don't sleep late. I've never understood people who could sleep to noon. Of course, this gives me more time in the day. I need to remember to write this summer- to MAKE myself write. The story I'm working on is going to be SO COOL, and it's going so well that I really can't afford to loose the thread. So I need to set up a scheduled time and force myself to write each day. I know, I said I'd do something like that last summer, but this time, I really NEED to do it!

Well, have a good summer, everybody!
