Ooooh, those phrases! "COBU-speak"! By the time I
came around, the sister's purpose was to be devoted to
Jesus and the "right" fellowship of the brothers.
Whatever that means. Cuz according to Stew, there was
no right fellowship of the brothers. He'd always say,
"of all the sons she has borne, there is no one to
take her by the hand..." basically saying that the
bros were a bunch of bums who cared nothing for the
welfare of the church. COBU-speak at its best (or
worst!)!
Anywho...I always took that devoted thing that he
spouted to mean that every sisters' whole purpose in
life was for never-ending slave labor (all of that
cooking, cleaning, lunches and laundry! ugh!!!)
smiling and reciting encouraging Bible scriptures all
of the time because you were happily intoxicated with
the wonderful life you had in the Boo! LOL!
I remember that he would stress that we naughty women
had to make sure that we were being devoted to the
"right fellowship of the brothers" and not trying to
be devoted to just one brother. Cuz that would
inevitably lead to ... GASP... maneuvering!!!!!!!
Surely couldn't have the old gals indulging in such
wickedness! Why...the whole church might collapse and
the heavens would be shaken and Jesus might fall off
the throne and hurt Himself!!! (roflol!!!! oh, my
sides are hurting!!!!)
Stew used to make a big distinction between being a
"woman" and being a "sister" while he was giving the
"devotion" speech. From what I remember, a "sister"
was devoted to her purpose which was "being devoted
...", yada, yada, yada. Where as a mere "woman" was
... well ... some sort of evil being from the planet
Zorg that must be controlled and crushed at all times!
I certainly wouldn't want any of those evil creatures
running rampant in MY neighborhood!!! Where is my
phaser when I need it???
