GENTLEMEN, START YOUR ENGINES! Our Pinewood Derby was held on Tuesday, February 20 at 7 p.m. in the Tinicum School Cafeteria. Tim came in __ place, Danny in __ place, Mark in __ place, and Georgie in last place. However, Georgie did win Bears Best of Show. Fun was had by everyone...and every boy was commended for their sportsmanship-like behavior.
We're back...because of weather and health, we haven't had any meetings in a while. But on Monday, February 12 we worked on our Pinewood Derby cars. Looks like we have alot of creative energy going on. We also welcomed a new member to our Den --- Mark.
The MONSTER TRUCK JAM was awesome! Danny, Georgie, and Tim had a great time on Saturday, February 10 while joining the Pack on a trip to watch the Monster Trucks. We all routed for GraveDigger to win, but Monster Patrol stole the show.
Our Pack Meeting on Wednesday, January 17 was packed! Not only did we all receive our Bear Badges (congratulations to us), we also had our inspection. Georgie and Danny received 100, while Tim received an 87.5. Our Cake Bake Auction was a success -- Danny made a bundt cake, Georgie made a soccer ball cake, and Tim made a wrestling cake. Note From The Leader: Thanks for all your hard work guys, it's a pleasure to work with all of you!
Our first meeting of the new year, 2001, was held on January 8th. During this meeting we all earned enough Achievements to earn our Bear Badge at the next Pack Meeting by completing Achievement 4 - Tall Tales. We measured our foot against Big Foot's 17 inch foot; became lumberjacks like Paul Bunyan; watered our ranch like Pecos Bill; used apples that Johnny Appleseed might have planted as stamps; and explored the United States with a map like Daniel Boone.

Merry Christmas! On Friday, December 22--The Pack celebrated Christmas in style! Singing Christmas Carols...Receiving Awards...S'mores & Hot Chocolate...AND...A Visit From Santa! During his visit, Santa gave the boys special gifts...their PINEWOOD DERBY KITS!!!
More pictures can be found in our PHOTO ALBUM.

Our Den celebrated Christmas alittle early at our Den Leader's house on Monday, December 18. We finished up our candy wreaths and made some phat Christmas ornaments with cookie cutters. Our Leader gave us a cool present...a cup with our picture on it! Oh yeah, almost forgot...the President is George Bush...finally!

Monday, December 11, we finished up "Achievement 16 - Building Muscles" and worked on Christmas gifts.

Saturday, December 9th, Georgie went to the Franklin Institute and visited the Fels Planetarium to get credit for "Elective 1 - Space."

(P.S. -- We still don't know who the new president is.)

Tuesday, November 7, 2000...a date that will go down in history as being one of the wackiest presidential elections yet! For the Bears, it was also a memorial one...as the day they visited a real live TV station. Georgie, Danny, Tim along with members of the Webelos Den received a tour of KYW TV/Channel 3 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Look at pictures in our PHOTO ALBUM. While in Philadelphia, we also visited the Liberty Bell were we actually saw one of the presidential candidates, Ralph Nader. Finally, we walked across the street for a tour of Independence Hall.

Do you know what happened on July 20, 1969? Ask a Bear in this den and they'll tell you. On November 6, Timmy, Georgie, and Danny worked on Achievement 8 - The Past is Exciting and Important. They all discovered different events that happened on their birthdays. Homework was assigned at this meeting...fill in your Family Tree. To end the meeting on a lighter note, the boys worked on Achievement 15 - Games, Games, Games!

The Bears really enjoyed Monday, October 30's Den Meeting! Why? Simple, we learned all about bears and made a great bear collage! Below is a picture of us with our Bear Collage!
Did you know there are 8 species of bears? Tim, Danny, and Georgie do now! All the boys agreed working on Achievement 5 - Sharing Your World with Wildlife was fun.

The boys (Tim, Georgie, and Danny) sure had a fun-filled time at Johnson's Corner Farm on Saturday, October 28. Not only did they pick some great pumpkins...had a good time on the hayride...and meet some friendly animals...they also worked on a part of one of their arrow points...Elective 16, FARM ANIMALS (see picture below). Look at pictures in our PHOTO ALBUM to see the fun we had.

TIGERS, WOLVES, BEARS...WEBELOS?...OH MY!!! The Pack Halloween Party on Friday, October 27, was a great time for all! Danny was dressed as an Army Man; Georgie was dressed as Scream; Tim was dressed as Count Dracula; and Ryan (who won first place in the den for best costume) was a Gangster! Lots of games and junk food made this a party the boys won't soon forget! See pictures of the party in our PHOTO ALBUM.

The Bears all earned their Whittling Chips during their den meeting on Monday, October 16. Georgie and Tim, and Ryan carved their respective initials. While Danny carved out a Philadelphia Flyers Hockey Logo. Some Webelos also dropped by to earn their chip. All did a great job! Congratulations boys!!!

RAIN, SLEET, OR SNOW!!! Timmy, Georgie, and Danny worked on their Weather Elective and Belt Loop at their Den Meeting on Monday, October 9. They learned about different clouds, barometer, and relative humidity. For the next two weeks, they will record the weather including temperature, wind direction, and weather forcasting. Want to see what the weather was like??? Click here. (The weather forecaster below was a great help.)

CALLING ALL BIKERS!!! It was quite a sight to see on Monday, October 2, the Bears and members of Pack #37 were seen riding together around Tinicum. Danny and Georgie not only earned their Bicycle Belt Loop, but also completed Achievement 14 - Ride Right. Lots of fun was had by everyone!

Monday, September 11 was our first den meeting of the 2000-2001 Scouting Year. And boy was it chaotic! Tim, Danny, and Georgie started working on the Bear Trail and Electives by telling why America is special to them, taking pictures, and starting their Bear Scrapbook.

Everyone had a great time at our POOL PARTY on Saturday, August 26. The event was held at the Tinicum Township Swimming Club. The Bears even recruited a new cub (thanks to Danny) --- welcome Thomas! Danny, Georgie, Ryan, and Thomas all had a great time. Their favorite was the high dive. Look here for our Pack picture at the Splash Party.

Our second Car Wash Fundraiser of the year held on Saturday, July 22 at the Lester Fire House was a success! It was a perfect day this time---SUN, SUN, SUN! Tim, Danny, and Georgie represented the Bears and did a great job! Not only did we wash cars and trucks, but we even had a boat (YES--A BOAT!) and bikes drop by! It was a hot day on Saturday, June 24th, but a fun one! Georgie and Ryan went with the rest of the Pack to the John Heinz Wildlife Refuge to explore the great outdoors. Our guide, Tom, was very knowledgeable and answered most of our questions. The walking tour lasted about 2 hours and we learned about different birds, flowers, and trees. We even found 3 turtles, hatched turtle eggs, goose feathers, and (unfortunately) a dead snake and baby bird. By participating, we are already working towards our Bear Badge by completing Requirement d-Visit A Wildlife Refuge - for Achievement 5-Sharing Your World With Wildlife.

1999-2000 Scouting Year

WEBELOS...HERE WE COME!

Hut-2-3-4! Shawn, Andrew, Denny, and Albert all participated in Tinicum Township's Memorial Day Parade held on Monday, May 29, 2000.

Denny, Albert, Shawn, and Andrew went to the Franklin Institute's Camp In 2000. We learned about flight, "Liquid Air," morse code, radios, and lots more. We even looked through a giant telescope on the Franklin Institute's roof and saw a star! But, our favorite activity was the Virtual Reality Soccer -- you are the goalie, you watch the screen and try to stop the virtual balls from going in the goal using your hands, feet, and body -- IT WAS THE COOLEST! Albert got the highest score of the Pack - 1250!

Albert had a great time at our Car Wash held on Saturday, May 20th. Washing cars wasn't enough for him, he decided to have himself washed too! Even with the rain we had, we still made $195.

During the May Pack Meeting, Denny received his Baseball Pin and Skating Pin. Andrew received his Baseball Pin and Skating Pin. Shawn received his Bear Badge. Zack received his Baseball Belt Loop and Skating Belt Loop. Albert received his Baseball Pin and Skating Pin. BEARS RULE!

Cleaning Day on April 30 was a huge success! The Pack would like to recognize Albert, Denny and his mom and baby brother, Zack and his sister, and Andrew and his mom -- your hard work helped the cabin to shine!

We had a lot of advancements at the April Pack Meeting: Andrew (Regilious Knot, Bear Badge, Gold Arrow, 2 Silver Arrow Points, and Bicylce Belt Loop), Denny (Bear Badge and Bicycle Belt Loop), Albert (Bicycle Belt Loop), Shawn (Bicycle Belt Loop) and Zack (Bobcat Badge and Bicycle Belt Loop).

Thank you to Shawn, Denny, Andrew, and Albert for bussing tables during the Loder Family Benefit Dinner on Sunday, March 26. You did a terrific job!

The top sellers for the Joe Corbi's Pizza Fundraiser are two Bears---Zach and Shawn! Both sold 27 kits each. WOW!

The Bear Den has been working very hard to obtain their Bear Badges. Andrew is only 2 tracks away! He will also receive his religious award at April's Pack Meeting.

We're going strong with 5 Den Members: Albert, Andrew, Denny, Shawn, and Zach.

At February's Pack Meeting: Denny received his Computer Belt Loop, Shawn received his Computer Belt Loop, and Andrew received his Computer Belt Loop and Fishing Belt Loop.

On February 15th, Pack #37 held it's Annual Pinewood Derby Races. Andrew took 2nd Place, while Denny won "Best of Show."
