Introduction

Enervate is a band of kids from Central Pennsylvania. We're not old school. We're not new school. We're not pop punk. We're not very hard-core. We're not addicted to heroin. We don't beat up cops. We don't try to be like any particular band all the time. We almost never take anything seriously. We're not that great of a band. We're not that bad of a band. We're not super geniuses. We're not total morons. Were not racist. Were not anarchists. We're not violent. We're not peace, love, and hippy shit neither. We're not tryin to scam anyone. We didn't grow up in the ghetto. We've never been shot in a gang related shoot out. We're not homeless (yet). We're not rich. We will rock out and break things. We will mellow out and play slow. We will dance in a pit. We will scream and yell. We won't always make sense. We might make you laugh. We might make you cry. We might make you spit at us. We might make you dance. We don't care what you think about us. We want to make money. We want to be successful. We want to influence people. We want to change peoples minds. We want to make a scene. We want you to stare and wonder "why?". This is who we are...and who we will always be. Enervate Lives!

In the beggining.

Well, I guess you could say it all started off about 2 and a half, or so, years ago. The week I got my first bass geetar. Me and my good buddy Tony set out on a mission. A mission many a people have set out on. And a mission many a people have failed at...That mission...starting a band. Hell yeah, we sucked for a long time. Tony eventually got pretty good at guitar and I got pretty OK at bass. So we started lookin for more band mates. We thought we had found a few but they all turned out to either suck or not stick with it. We searched high and low for drummers, guitarists, singers. Some said they'd join, but never did. Others did and stuck around for a while but were old and still living with their parents.

Everything falls apart
We've gone through a few bands. None of them ever played shows...We would just practice in Tony's basement, or my room, or where ever we could find. Well anyway a few years went by of this, until one day my brother told me he may have found us a drummer...We said, whatever we'll take what we can get. So after a while we finally practiced with Jordan. Jordan is a young lad, 14 at the time, and has been in several different half-assed bands as well, so he fit right in. We actually sounded somewhat decent. We did this acouple more times. Me and Tony would go to Jordans and jam...We tried a few other band mates in their but none really lasted for more than one or two practices. Sadly, practices started becoming very scarce...Tony and me started working to try and pay for new toys we wanted as well as gasoline, but we never had off on the same days. so eventually that band faded away.

Enervate is born
One day in guitar club, me and Glen, were chillin out as metallica riffs blaired all around, and got to talkin about us tryin to start up a new band. Glen was never really in a band but he's been playin guitar for a few years and was pretty good at rhythm but not all that great at lead. We practiced a few times to see what we needed and found that we needed a lead guitar and maybe a singer and definately drums, but we knew Jordan would do it. So we asked Aaron (who was also in the guitar club wit us). Aaron has been in a few bands like myself, but unlike me, his bands have done something (as insignifacant as it may be) and played a few shows. He played for a band called 3 foot zero. They never got to far I guess. None the less a few of the members started another band called the Scottsdales and they never got to far either. Anyway, we also asked my good friend lea to sing for us...she was gonna sing for our old band with Tony to. But she didnt work out to well. Anyway eventually we all practiced, Glen, Aaron, Jay, and Jordan...and Enervate was born...but we didnt have that name then. We didnt know what the hell to call ourselves...we messed around wit a few names but none seemed to fit. Nothing seemed to fit because we didn't know where we fit in. We couldn't stick with one genre...So we called ourselves sludge rockers for alittle while cause we were just a mix of everything. Not all at once, but in seperate dosages...crazy eh? sure theirs others like us, but they didn't have a bitchi'n name like sludge rockers...aight you can stop laughing. Well anyway, one faithful day Glen was lookin through the dictionary or somethin I guess and came up wit Enervate...I dont know why but it worked. The meaning of it, and how it just totally described who we are, and what we probably will do. and probably because no one knows what it means....LOOK IT UP!
Bumps in the road
As Enervate grew and became more complex so did our schedules. I got a job at ollies and in the christmas spirit they work the hell outa me, so practicing has become scarce once more. Aaron also had his conflicts with practice until finally he said he couldn't keep up with us and he left the band. Glen was in the same boat I was. But we deciced to stick it out...So we were back down to 3. So what is a band to do when faced with such adverse situations? Get good at bein a 3 piece...and thats what we tried to do.We didn't really feel the need anymore to add more to us. We felt we were pretty good as a 3 some..So till we find we are lacking something this is how we will be...But, we eventually realized we were lacking without aarons rippin lead. So he came back, and we became whole again...
The Colapse
Well like all good things the end of the first wave of Enervate was all to fast. Creative tensions ultimately split us in twaid. Glen and Aaron got more into the more mellower traditional Rock sound while me and Jordan still had that crazy style blood pumpin in our veins. So they split. And Jordan and I attempted to look for replacements. But to no avail. meanwhile, I became involved in another fledgling band with potential, drive and a common goal. A perfect recipe for a good band. In turn this deminished my ambition to find replacements for glen and aaron so I just started playing with new band more and more often. Glen eventually came back around to his senses and wanted to play with jordan again. But it was to late for me, I had already become quite involved in the new band to quit it and go back to Enervate and not be sure of my future. The new band offered me band security. Something I couldn't really have with Enervate because of Glen and Jordan being alittle bit younger than me and with the history of the band being so sketchy I decided to devote all of my musical creativity to the new band, which has kids alittle bit older than me and who are completely devoted to the music. Not to say Enervate wasn't...but you know how it is.
Re-Birth
Between now and then Enervate practiced maybe once or twice, but never formally. Then one day Jordan started talking about playing a show, the notion was somewhat absurd, but we ended up getting serious about it and practiced to see if we were rusty at all, and we were suprisingly good for how long we were out of the game. This in turn brought back the notion that maybe we should play together still every now and then, even if it doesn't get us anywhere...and obviously it didn't
The End (for now)

In the end, we practiced informally a few times, and as my new band started to get shows and such and become more serious enervate fell to the way-side. We did however achieve one first and final show. On October 5th at a fire hall in Colonial Park Glen, Jordan and I had the opportunity to play 3 songs at the end of the DontNO set (the band I went to after the demise of enervate) So we finally got our wish to play a real show in front of strangers, and it wasn't half bad for not even practicing for it. And that's were it all ended. As of the time I write this, I am currently involved in Drop Machine. Glen is somewhat involved with the members of my last band DontNo, and from what I understand is still jamming with Aaron when they have the chance. Jordan...who knows. I suppose thats about it for now, and ever.
