Attack Information |
Encore causes the opposing pokemon to repeat the move that it used prior to the use of Encore. The move that is Encored need not have been used while the pokemon using Encore was in play. If the opponent was incapicated in the round prior to the use of Encore (from Confusion, Paralysis, Sleep, etc.), the move that they will be forced to repeat will be the move that they used prior to that incapacitation. The number of turns that it will repeat the move is determined randomly, varying between 2 and 6 times. Encore has no trapping effect attached to it, so a pokemon that has been affected by it may be switched out at any time in order to avoid repeating a move that the player thinks would not be advantageous.
In addition to ending during the randomly-determined turn limit, the effects of Encore will end if the pokemon runs out of PP for the move that they have been forced to repeat. Similarly, Encore will automatically fail if the last move that the opponent used does not have at least 1 PP by the time Encore is used. Encore will also automatically fail if used on a pokemon that is currently in the process of repeating attacks due to the effects of Encore.
Encore's effects will always end at the end of a round.
Encore is affected by Brightpowder when the opposing pokémon is equipped with it.
