On the turn that Skull Bash is selected, the Defense stat of the using pokémon will increase by 1 step (termed BTLs in the Gameboy description) on the Stat growth scale. On the following turn, the using pokémon will deal the damage for this move.
The Defense increase from the first turn of the move is permanent. It does not go away after Skull Bash is finished (it may be removed or reduced in the same way that all other stat boosts would be). This stat modification counts, as normal, toward the 6 step stat modification limit.
If the using pokémon is already at the stat modification limit for Defense when Skull Bash is used, then nothing will be done on the turn that Skull Bash is selected and damage will be dealt on the following turn as normal.
Skull Bash receives the flinching bonus when King's Rock is attached to the using pokémon.
Skull Bash is affected by Brightpowder when the opposing pokémon is equipped with it.
