Graham Chapman
Born: January 8, 1941 Leicester,
England
Died: October 4, 1989 England,
Throat Cancer, 48 Years Old
Graham was an alcoholic. There's no nice way to say it, he constantly drank. He was at his lowest during the filming of 'The Holy Grail' but when he saw how much he was letting his friends down, he quit. By the filming of 'Life of Brian' he no longer drank. A few years later, with great difficulty, he laid down his pipe. He was often, in fact every time I can remember, the doctor in the movies. He had gone to Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London, to study Medicine in both places. He started when he read his brother's medical books, and decided he wanted to do the same. He wasn't married, but he did live with his lover, David Sherlock, for 20 years. They adopted a son - John Tomiczek - in 1971. His last movie was 'Yellowbeard', the only failure that I know about that he acted in. He also wrote most of the movie. Some of his better known parts in the Python movies are - Brian (Life of Brian), King Arthur (Holy Grail), Raymond Luxury-Yacht(Below) (Flying Circus, Series ?) and he was often the more 'serious' parts, like the doctors, policemen, and colonels (like the one above).
If you have a question about any of the pictures, let me know. I know where many of them are from.
