Realignment
The following is the way the National Football League will realign their divisions when the Houston
franchise enters in the year 2002. My interpretations were the same, except I had Miami in the AFC South and Indianapolis in the AFC East. Upon further review, I have decided that the NFL's solution makes more sense than mine, keeping intact the original AFC East.
American Football Conference
East
Buffalo Bills
Miami Dolphins
New England Patriots
New York Jets
North
Baltimore Ravens
Cincinnati Bengals
Cleveland Browns
Pittsburgh Steelers
West
Denver Broncos
Kansas City Chiefs
Oakland Raiders
San Diego Chargers
South
Houston Texans
Indianapolis Colts
Jacksonville Jaguars
Tennessee Titans
National Football Conference
East
Dallas Cowboys
New York Giants
Philadelphia Eagles
Washington Redskins
North
Chicago Bears
Detroit Lions
Green Bay Packers
Minnesota Vikings
West
Arizona Cardinals
San Francisco 49ers
Seattle Seahawks
St. Louis Rams
South
Atlanta Falcons
Carolina Panthers
New Orleans Saints
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Note: Care was taken to leave some rivalries intact. Pittsburgh vs. Cleveland, Washington vs. Dallas, and the newest rivalry,
Jacksonville vs. Tennessee. Finally, some sense in the NFC with Arizona out of the East and Atlanta and Carolina out of the West.
