Co-Founder of the Wellspring Drop In Center for the homeless and mentally ill. Counselor responsibilities included intake assessments and coordination of outreach services and center activities. Responsible for developing and facilitating structured, goal-oriented therapy groups based on the wants and needs of the members. Supervised and assisted in daily preparation and serving of meals in the center. Provided case management counseling and referrals for members in the areas of housing, shelter programs, mental health issues, outpatient programs and federal and state benefits. Office Administrator duties included supply maintenance, population reports and database specialist. Also served as Computer Systems Manager / Trainer ensuring proper functioning and upgrading of program computers and instructional classes for the members. Knowledgeable of Win95, Lotus, Microsoft Word, Internet applications and html Web Design.

Founding member and Executive Director for Southwest Consumers serving the homeless and mentally ill. As Executive Director, I oversaw the coordination of fundraising through various federal, state and county grant programs. Served as Southwest Consumers representative at consumer conferences on mental health and homeless doctrine. Attended and facilitated various workshops and caucuses involving empowerment, patient rights and history of the consumer movement. Served as Master of Ceremonies and performer for benefit concerts to increase public awareness. Office Manager responsibilities included interviewing, hiring, training, disciplinary counseling, supply inventory, and database specialist.
Crane Operator 1973à 1983
U.S. Steel – Homestead Works Homestead, Pa
Overhead Crane Operator in the Heat Treating and Forge Division. Responsible for drawing hot metal furnaces and loading steel products onto trucks and railroad cars in the machine shop. Participated in agency support of USWA Local 1397.
Lab Technician 1969à 1973
Carnegie Mellon University Pittsburgh, Pa
Responsible to the head of Carnegie’s Physiological Psychology Department. Assisted professors and grad students in thesis preparation involving experimental psychiatric research. Developed and implemented infa-red photographic technology to be used at the University for experimental research.
