Gertrude S. Washney, 56, of Grove Street, Wilkes-Barre died Friday, June 19, 1987 in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

She was born August 27, 1928 in Larksville and she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Sarah Price Zimmerman. She was a Wilkes-Barre resident most of her life.

Mrs. Washney was a member of the Albright United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre.

Surviving are her husband, Michael Joseph; children, Mrs. Sarah Lengel, with whom she resided; Michael and Mrs. Cathy Goodrich, both of Plymouth; Glen, Berwick; Mrs. Melissa Novak, Larksville; Mrs. Stephanie Novak, Wilkes-Barre; William, at home; 13 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Sarah Gilbert and Al, both of Texas; William, New Jersey; Mrs. Bertha Yuskoski, Wilkes-Barre; Floyd Brown, Lee Park; Mrs. Betsy Harris, Wilkes-Barre.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the S. J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main Street, Plymouth. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
