On January 31, 2005, we planted several types of flowers and seeds. The purpose of this science project is read about, write about, predict, measure and illustrate the results of our plantings.

We will be updating this page weekly with our observations of the flowers. We will be measuring the flowers each day and record our results on a growth chart in our room:

1. Amaryllis: Apple Blossom
2. Amaryllis: Vera
3. Paperwhite Lilies

January 31, 2005: The day we planted the flower bulbs

February 3, 2005: The Amaryllis is growing faster than the Paperwhite Lilies.

February 4, 2005: The Amaryllis has grown two inches in two days.

February 8, 2005: Elizabeth shows our class that the Amaryllis Plant is now 14 inches tall.

February 10, 2005: Mark is showing our class that the Amaryllis Plant is nearly 17 inches tall.It has grown more than 2 inches in two days!

February 14, 2005:

February 15, 2005:

Our Amaryllis Plant has gotten so tall that all of the leaves are falling over. So, we used some stakes and string to support the plants growth. See the picture below:

After straightening out the Amaryllis Apple Blossom, we checked the progress of our Paperwhite Lilies.

The box came with three small Paperwhite Lily bulbs. One of the bulbs is making some slow progress but the other two bulbs are not growing. We removed the two bulbs to see if the roots were growing. After looking at them, we decided, as a class, that they were rotten. So we threw them out.
