The History of Becker’s St. Peter’s Lutheran Church

In 1866, one year after the close of the Civil War, a group of Christian men and women erected on a beautiful hill, overlooking Richmond Township, Berks County, Pa., a House of Worship known as Becker’s St. Peter’s Church.  The church was erected in about six months during the summer and fall of 1866.  The Cornerstone was laid on May 27^th 1866 and the church was dedicated on November 25^th of the same year.

The beautiful painting above the altar depicts Christ preaching to the multitude at the Sea of Galilee. Prof. Henry W. Sharadin of Kutztown, Pa. painted these thought provoking panels in 1941
