Powerhouse Hughes has been a
mainstay in the CWF since its debut on Feb. 19, 2000. There
is no doubt, with Monessen being the CWF’s home base and
Hughes’ hometown, that Hughes is the most popular wrestler
in the CWF.
Although Hughes may not be
considered the most scientifically gifted wrestler in the
CWF, he will flat out take you out with his brawling style.
Hughes has been a common
target of the CWF wrestlers because of his loyalty to his
hometown. But what would happen if a darker side of Hughes
came out?
Hughes teamed with Quinn
Magnum (filling in for an injured Dale Price) to defeat the
Players Club (Eric Lancy and Luscious Lucas) for the CWF tag
team titles at Showtime (6/17/00).
The man known as ‘house
didn’t win any more CWF gold until he dethroned “the
Spotlight” Scottie Gash for the Keystone title at Winter
Breakout (2/23/02).
Then, in the biggest match of
his career at Boomer’s Legacy (3/9/02), Hughes
unified the Keystone title with the CWF title when he
defeated Boomer Payne in a 25-minute classic battle.
Hughes held the title until
dropping it to Gash at Redemption II (4/14/03).
Although unsuccessful in trying to regain the title, Hughes
has vowed to once again wear the gold, no matter whom he has
to go through to get it.
The big man teamed with Eric
Lancy to win the CWF tag titles from Real $mooth at
Revenge (6/4/05).
A gentle giant outside of the
ring, Hughes can often be seen hob knobbing with fans before
and after shows. In every sense of the word, Hughes is a
people’s person.
