In professional wrestling,
the phrase “parts unknown” has long been used when the
hometown of a wrestler is not known. But Mayor Mystery has
come forward to reveal that Parts Unknown is not a phrase at
all, but a real town! In fact, he is the city's mayor
(although he won't reveal the city's location because he
says the quaint town will be overrun by autograph-seeking
wrestling fans).
Mystery has been the mayor of Parts Unknown for more than 20
years, but before he was elected, his father, grandfather
and great-grandfather all held the office. But in addition
to the Mysteries impressive political careers, the Mystery
family has a long and storied history in professional
wrestling.
For decades the Mysteries
have scoured the gymnasiums, alleys, pubs and cafeterias of
Parts Unknown, looking for potential grapplers. Once
selected, these elite physical specimens like The Missing
Link and Demolition were trained, groomed and prepared. One
by one the Mysteries sent their discoveries into the squared
circle, and more often than not, the Parts Unknown talent
prevailed.
Mayor Mystery is keeping the family tradition alive today.
He is quite proud of his hometown, and is quick to point out
that Parts Unknown has produced more wrestling legends than
any other city. But still, Parts Unknown gets no respect.
Other cities, especially Pittsburgh, unfairly get attention
for being true “wrestling towns” when they've produced a
fraction of the talent churned out by Parts Unknown.
