NEWS ESPECIALLY FOR
FORMER MEMBERS OF OUR 'FAMILY'

November 22, 2002 - Walt Hunt
Clemente Bridge Lighting

Last night was a great opportunity to see many (non-retired) folks who had 'slipped' to the back of my mind. Amazingly, it was as if they were still ALL co-workers! Nothing changed except the time that had passed since last seeing them.

The festivities were lavish. There was a tent erected inside the gate at PNC Park. Inside the tent were refreshments and bite-sized snacks to enjoy.

The 'Niagara Falls-type' fireworks streaming over the side of the bridge were spectacular! Additional aerial mind-boggling sights were beautiful as well, especially the many bursts which combined to resemble a rainbow.

A good time was had by all who attended.

Let's hope that DQE has future occasions like this to celebrate!

NO MORE LONG DISTANCE PHONE CHARGES!!!
There is a notice on the retirees "NEWS" page (First Page you see when you enter the site). The notice is about FREE PC to PC phone calls, and how you can participate. There's no compatibility problem, either. This is supposed to work with Apple machines as well as Microsoft compatible PCs. why don't you check it out for yourself.
April 5, 2002 - Walt Hunt - This is a notice to all non-retirees who may want to share in a special group just for other ex-employees like you. You worked at the Company for years and years, but there is no formal group with which to address your thoughts, ideas, memories, etc. Now, there is a way! If you're interested, please contact me and I'll tell you how it works.

April 2, 2002 - Walt Hunt - Although he was a retired Duq. Light employee (1979), this is a small tribute to a man who WAS a part of our family. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. My personal memories are many, warm, friendly and filled with a myriad of thoughts of this 'super' man. He was the photographer who attended so many DLCO events that it's impossible to list them here. My personal memory of him goes back to the DLCO Christmas Parties at Syria Mosque.
George W. 'Jasper' Evans
- April 2002 - There will be a private funeral service on Saturday April 6, 2002 at the request of the family.

Also at the request of the family, memorial notes of work experiences with Jasper would be appreciated and treasured. You can visit the obituary section of the Post Gazette online and compose a message there.
April 2, 2002 - Walt Hunt - I just received notice that a good friend has passed away. Everyone who knew him remembers Bill very kindly.
William 'Bill' Wheaton - March 2002 - Bill worked in M.I.S. - Friends may call Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at WHITE MEMORIAL CHAPEL of POINT BREEZE, 7204 Thomas Blvd., at Homewood Ave. Funeral Ceremony Friday 11 am in Roman Baptist Church. Interment Homewood Cemetery.

March 31, 2002 - Walt Hunt - HAPPY EASTER!
To friends who are Jewish, please accept this fervent wish for a holy and meaningful PASSOVER.

The Guest Book at the top of this page is for all. We would LOVE to hear from you. I understand that some do not want to sign in, so here's a helpful hint. It's not necessary for you to fill in any of the fields with any personal data. They're only there to allow all of the Duquesne Light Family to have a better way to stay in touch with each other. Give it a try. You'll be happier for having done it and many of us will be able to get in touch. After all, please understand that NO ONE at the Company knew everybody by name. We only knew a small portion of the family. If you fill in your Department name where you last worked, it'll help to remember you. Please check on the 'other' Guest Book at the retirees old site for many messages to see that it's not anything other than comaradrie among friends.
March 21, 2002 - Walt Hunt - I've been hearing from many former employees and since everyone is still in contact, it seems natural to include EVERYONE, instead of just a part of our overall family of friends. Please help me to spread the word so that more and more of us can participate in this new forum..
March 13, 2002 - Walt Hunt - This page is for all of the former employees of DLCO who did not retire, for whatever reason. We miss you and would like to hear from you. As far as everyone is concerned, we're STILL family and always will be. Welcome!.
If there is anyone who knows of other former employees and they have not yet heard from any of us, please encourage them to visit this site and 'check in'. Anyone who has the inclination can send me an e-mail. It's always nice to hear from people who may be looking for others and can use this site to 'connect' with them. Just write and I'll check with them (If I have their e-address), and then get back to you with their permission to share their address with you.
FORMER NON-RETIRED EMPLOYEES. Please send me an e-mail to suggest your concerns, worries, ideas for this site's improvements, etc. I'll answer as quickly as possible and then work to implement your thoughts into this page.
