EHW was created by Nate Albright and Brian Shope in the Summer of 1998. The backyard federation quickly grew in popularity amongst Nate and Brian's friends and has had a varied cast over the years. After it was all said and done, Nate, Brian, Neil Yetsko, Kyle Wagner, Josh Smith, Dave Stager, Justin Nemec, Keith Lutz, Josh Simala, Bill Rusnak, Adam Melius, Jay Sossong, Rick Hazlett, Jon Pollock, Ben Latoche, Casey Leman, Brian Adams, Ryan Gribbin, and Ryan Konsavich all stepped foot in an EHW ring at sometime. The federation had serveral "new beginnings" and re-openings, the most recent of which occured in the early Fall of 2000. By this time, long-time EHW member and co-founder Brian Shope was no longer with the company and Nate worked alongside his Vice President Kyle Wagner to make the federation the best it could be. After a few shows, interest in EHW began to decline and the company called it quits, again. Over the Winter, the number of wrestling fans in Portage, PA began to decline and after giving it much thought, Nate decided not to reopen the federation as planned in the Spring of 2001. After going 10 months without wrestling, Nate took part in the White House Federation (WHF) co-owned by the brothers Cory and Thomas White in July 2001. Nate's angle (see wrestling terms page) in WHF was to come into their company with EHW's Heavyweight title and proclaim that WHF pailed in comparison to EHW in it's prime. This lead to Nate defending his EHW championship at the WHF show against the White brothers in a triangle match. After a tough battle, Nate retained his title and claimed that the WHF would not hear the end of EHW.![]()
THE MERGER
Then, on Tuesday, August 22, 2001 for the first time ever, WHF held a show at the former EHW arena, 719 Hardcore street. Nate came out during the show and said that the WHF has no business in EHW territory and they were going to learn that the hard way. Later on in the evening, Nate and then-WHF Hardcore champion Cory White battled it out to unify the EHW Heavyweight championship and the WHF Hardcore title. After a fierce bout, Nate came out victorious and in doing so made one WHF title obsolete. The main event of the show featured the "final chapter" in the fued between Cory and WHF member Chris Stanchek. The climax of the near 15 minute battle came when Cory pinned Chris following a big splash from the top of a ladder. Following Chris' defeat, WHF members Thomas White and Floyd Rousell along with EHW champion Nate Albright came to the ring and viciously attacked Chris. Following devestating duel steel chair shots (the Concerto, to WWF fans) from Thomas and Nate to Chris' ribs, Floyd flattened Chris with two huge splashes from the ladder. As if that wasn't enough, Thomas and Nate followed suit by splashing Chris off the ladder, leaving him battered and beaten in the ring. The underlying plot here was that the members of the WHF turned on federation loyalist Chris to merge with Nate and successfully complete the merger of EHW-WHF. The new and improved EHW features Nate Albright, Thomas White, Cory White, Floyd Rousell, and Jordan Rodgers and is currently in talks with several former EHW members to rejoin. It's basic knowledge that Chris will seek revenge once he returns from his rib injuries but the question is...wiil he attempt to fight off the new EHW on his own or will he seek the help of some fresh faces or maybe perhaps EHW wrestlers of the past? That question as well as many others will be answered in hard hitting, risk taking, extreme environment that is Extreme House Wresting!
