I sit here staring at blank pages
Trying with all my might
To search my thoughts and feelings
For anything to write.
The more I try to focus
On any given scene
The more my mind goes blank again
Like a snowy TV screen.
Pictures, blurred and fuzzy
Or never really there
Words tumble, jumble, and hiss
Like static on the air.
I try to will my hand to move
To put words upon the page.
But still it remains immobile
Like a beast inside a cage.
Imaginary walls have been built
Of brick and mortar and rock.
Not a single thought escapes my brain
I have writer's block.
