POEMS TO MY MOTHER
Mom
God saw you were getting tired
and a cure was not to be......so he put His
arms around you and whispered, "Come
to Me". With tearful eyes I watched you,
and saw you pass away.
Although I loved you dearly....I could not
make you stay. A golden heart stopped
beating, hard working hands at rest. God
broke my heart to prove to me He only takes
the best.

Threads of Friendship that will never Break
MOM:
Thank you for the laughter..
For the good times that we shared..
Thanks for always listening..
For trying to be fair..
Thank you for your comfort when things were
going bad..
Thank you for your shoulder to cry on when I
was sad..
All my lifetime through I'll be thanking heaven
for a SPECIAL FRIEND & MOTHER like you.

Bread and Music
Music I heard with you was more than music,
And bread I broke with you was more than bread;
Now that I am without you, all is desolate;
All that was once so beautiful is dead.
Your hands once touched this table and this silver,
And I have seen your fingers hold this glass.
These things do not remember you, belovèd,
And yet your touch upon them will not pass.
For it was in my heart you moved among them,
And blessed them with your hands and with your eyes;
And in my heart they will remember always,--
They knew you once, O beautiful and wise.

YOU LEFT US
There is a place where I can go that has no pain or sorrow.
The angels sing and laugh all day and know there's no tomorrow.
I look and see the harps they play and hear their mellow tinkle.
I reach my hand out - just to touch - and I can play a jingle.
There is no fear, there is no hurt, nor sadness in my heart.
No unkind words, nor unkind thoughts, to pull us all apart.
A helping hand is placed in mine and I am reassured.
You guide me through, and I'll help you, and we will
quench our thirst.
Please come with me, come to the light, climb those mighty stairs.
Walk through the door, give up the fight and peacefulness is yours.
You will not hurt; there is no pain, you will not suffer more.
Come reach to me, I'll take your hand, and open all the doors.
She went away, now she is gone, she left us here alone.
She took her smile; she took her joys, and traveled up on home.
She does not hurt, she is not sad, there is no further pain.
She looks down here and throws a kiss, and sends it on the rain.
We see the stars and look for her and wander where she's gone.
We feel the hurt, and suffer pain because we're left alone.
Our heads, they know, she's better off and we should understand.
But our hearts, they break into, and cannot bare to stand.
Come back to us, we wail and cry, come back to ease the pain.
Our love for you will see us through protected from this strain.
But oh how selfish that we are, to even feel that way.
With all the suffering that you had, we could not take away.
There are no clouds, the sun is bright, but all I see is shadow.
I feel the drops upon my face and hurry for the morrow.
To run away, to go and hide, to cower in my sorrow.
Afraid to face, the awful truth, you have no more tomorrow's.

ROCK ME TO SLEEP
BACKWARD, turn backward, O time, in your flight,
Make me a child again just for tonight
Mother, come back from the echoless shore,
Take me again to your heart as of yore;
Kiss from my forehead the furrows of care
Smooth the few silver threads out of my hair;
Over my slumbers your loving watch keep;
Rock me to sleep, Mother-rock me to sleep!
Backward, flow backward, oh, tide of the years
I am so weary of toil and of tears;
Toil without recompense, tears all in vain--
Take them, and give me my childhood again!
I have grown weary of dust and decay--
Weary of flinging my soul--wealth away,
Weary of sowing for others to reap;
Rock me to sleep, Mother rock me to sleep!
Tired of the hollow, the base, the untrue,
Mother, O Mother, my heart calls for you!
Many a summer the grass has grown green,
Blossomed and faded, our faces between.
Yet, with strong yearning and passionate pain,
Long I tonight for your presence again.
Come from the silence so long and so deep;
Rock me to sleep, Mother-rock me to sleep!
Over my heart, in the days that are flown,
No love like mother-love ever has shone;
No other worship abides and endures-
Faithful, unselfish, and patient like yours:
None like a mother can charm away pain
From the sick soul and the world-weary brain.
Slumber's soft calms over my heavy lids creep;
Rock me to sleep, Mother-rock me to sleep!
Come, let your brown hair, just lighted with gold,
Fall on your shoulders again as of old;
Let it drop over my forehead tonight,
Shading my faint eyes away from the light;
For with it's sunny-edged shadows once more
Haply will throng the sweet vision of yore;
Lovingly, softly, it's bright billows sweep:
Rock me to sleep, Mother-rock me to sleep!
Mother, dear Mother, the years been long
Since I last listened to your lullaby song.
Sing, then, and unto my soul it shall seem
Womanhood's years have been only a dream.
Clasped to your heart in a loving embrace,
With your light lashes just sweeping my face,
Never hereafter to wake or to weep;
Rock me to sleep, Mother-rock me to sleep!

MOTHER - THE BEAUTIFUL CREATURE
At the dawn of every life, at the birth of every child,
there is always a joyous thought that brings memories of care,
affection and also pains
and anxiety, but all add up to a poem of Love.
Every human being carries with him or her the seal of this
Love and remembers the maternal tenderness which is
very hard to remove from
the heart.
Over the years, even when our hair turns gray, there remains
the distant memories and the strong desire to see once again Her,
who carries the affectionate name of Mother.
Her name is a fountain of peaceful thoughts, generosity,
serenity and Love.
We always talk nice about our Mother and we always
speak highly of her merits and good guidance and when
She is gone, a veil of sadness surrounds our hearts.
There is a legend that says that since God could not be
physically present amongst all His people at all times,
he created Mothers to take His place.
Looking at the smile on the face of a Mother as she
looks at her baby explains it very clearly.
If we look at Nature we see so much beauty:
the People, the Mountains, the Oceans, Rivers, Trees,
the Flowers, Stars and the Birds....
But the Sun doesn't shine on anyone
more beautiful than you, MOTHERS!
Thanks for filling this World with so much genuine love.
With sincere admiration, love and respect to all of you, Mothers.

MY MOTHER..........by Jane Taylor
WHO FED ME FROM HER GENTLE BREAST
AND HUSHED ME IN HER ARMS TO REST,
AND ON MY CHEEK SWEET KISSES PRESS?
MY MOTHER
WHEN SLEEP FORTOOK MY OPEN EYE,
WHO WAS IT SUNG SWEET LULLABY
AND ROCKED ME THAT I SHOULD NOT CRY?
MY MOTHER
WHO SAT AND WATCHED MY INFANT HEAD
WHEN SLEEPING IN MY CRADLE BED,
AND TEARS OF SWEET AFFECTION SHED?
MY MOTHER
WHEN PAIN AND SICKNESS MADE ME CRY,
WHO GAZED UPON MY HEAVY EYE
AND WEPT, FOR FEAR THAT I SHOULD DIE?
MY MOTHER
WHO RAN TO HELP ME WHEN I FELL
AND WOULD SOME PRETTY STORY TELL,
OR KISS THE PART TO MAKE IT WELL?
MY MOTHER
WHO TAUGHT MY INFANT LIPS TO PRAY,
TO LOVE GOD'S HOLY WORD AND DAY,
AND WALK IN WISDOM'S PLEASANT WAY?
MY MOTHER
AND CAN I EVER CEASE TO BE
AFFECTIONATE AND KIND TO THEE
WHO WAST SO VERY KIND TO ME,
MY MOTHER
OH NO, THE THOUGHT I CANNOT BEAR;
AND IF GOD PLEASE MY LIFE TO SPARE
I HOPE I SHALL REWARD THY CARE,
MY MOTHER
WHEN THOU ART FEEBLE, OLD AND GRAY,
MY HEALTHY ARM SHALL BE THY STAY,
AND I WILL SOOTHE THY PAINS AWAY
MY MOTHER
AND WHEN I SEE THEE HANG THY HEAD,
"TWILL BE MY TURN TO WATCH THY BED,
AND TEARS OF SWEET AFFECTION SHED.---
MY MOTHER
A WONDERFUL MOTHER...by Pat O'Reilly
GOD MADE A WONDERFUL MOTHER,
A MOTHER WHO NEVER GROWS OLD;
HE MADE HER SMILE OF THE SUNSHINE,
AND HE MOLDED HER HEART OF PURE GOLD;
IN HER EYES HE PLACED BRIGHT SHINING STARS,
IN HER CHECKS, FAIR ROSES YOU SEE;
GOD MADE A WONDERFUL MOTHER,
AND HE GAVE THAT DEAR MOTHER TO ME.
NOBODY KNOWS BUT MOTHER
How many buttons are missing today?
Nobody knows but Mother.
How many playthings are strewn in her way?
Nobody knows but Mother.
How many thimbles and spools has she missed?
How many burns on each fat little fist?
How many bumps to be cuddled and kissed?
Nobody knows but Mother.
How many hats has she hunted today?
Nobody knows but Mother.
Carelessly hiding themselves in the hay
Nobody knows but Mother.
How many handkerchiefs wilfully strayed?
How many ribbons for each little maid?
How for her care can a mother be paid?
Nobody knows but Mother.
How many muddy shoes all in a row?
Nobody knows but Mother.
How many stockings to darn, do you know?
Nobody knows but Mother.
How many little torn aprons to mend?
How many hours of toil must she spend?
What is the time when her day's work shall end?
Nobody knows but Mother.
How many lunches for Tommy and Sam?
Nobody knows but Mother.
Cookies and apples and blackberry jam
Nobody knows but Mother.
Nourishing dainties for every "sweet tooth,'
Toddling Dottie or dignified Ruth-
How much love sweetens the labor, forsooth?
Nobody knows but Mother.
How many cares does a mother's heart know?
Nobody knows but Mother.
How many joys from her mother love flow?
Nobody knows but Mother.
How many prayers for each little white bed?
How many tears for her babes has she shed?
How many kisses for each curly head?
Nobody knows but Mother.

MOTHERS DAY
A Mother loves right from the start
She holds her baby close to her heart The bond that grows
will never falter
Her love is so strong it will never alter
A Mother gives never-ending Love
She never feels that she has given enough
For you she will always do her best
Constantly working, there's no time to rest
A Mother is there when things go wrong A hug and a kiss
to help us along
Always there when we need her near Gently wipes
our eyes when we shed a tear
So on this day shower your Mother with Love
Gifts and presents are nice but that is not enough
Give your Mother a day to have some peace of mind
Be gentle, be good, be helpful, be kind.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY
By Carol Matthews
Mothers Are Very Special People
Mother you are special and dear in my life.
Never giving up in all of my strife.
I feel the long nights you've laid there awake,
Praying for some way I'll keep going straight.
The lessons you've taught, I see so well,
Guiding my life, in my heart you dwell.
You've lived a life as a model to follow.
Sometimes I wavered and pride I swallowed.
I have long left the love in your nest,
But remembered always, how you did it best.
A halo adorns, your long awaited crown,
As peace and tranquility I've found.
Even though I can't talk to you every day,
Just know in my heart, you will always stay.
Then one day as heaven you will see,
Keep saying a prayer, and thinking of me.

The Hardest Thing I'll Ever Have To Do
Waking up and finding out that God took you away from me
Cause no matter how much I think about it, it just can't be
Taking everything in, and imagining its nothing else but a dream
Waking up and realizing that not everything is the way it seems
Living another day in this world without you in my life
Is stabbing me in the heart with a hundred cold knives
Seeing everyone from my past and trying to fake a smile
Knowing that you're far away and its more than just miles
Its a whole eternity and another lifetime that you're living in
And everyday that passes, I'm asking myself questions that are sins
Questioning God and asking myself why is it that he does what he does
Why does he put us through obstacles and then in the end, hurt us?
Trying to be a stronger person is killing us in the end
Cause there's broken hearts that no one will ever mend
Watching your body in front of me, hoping you'll wake up soon
Praying all night, talking about our memories to the moon
Remembering your smile and how nobody could ever replace you
But realizing that you're never coming back no matter what I do
I know this is a part of life, but I know that no matter how hard I try
The hardest thing I will ever have to do in this life,
Is say goodbye!
