Biography of Jacob Heyer
This is the Page for Capt. Jacob Heyer of the 23rd PA Volunteers. George was born in Philadelphia in 1828. He was mustered into service for the Civil War on April 21st 1861 as to the 23rd PA Regiment, 3 Years Volunteers. George Wood was wounded at the Battle of fair Oaks on May 31st 1862. He was Promoted from Lt. to Captain on July 22nd 1862 and then transferred to Company E on March 3rd 1863. He was mustered out of service at the end of its term on September 8th 1864. He died on December 28, 1884. He is buried at West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia in Sec. Merion, Lot 318, Grave 1.
