Hey, guys! I just got back from Creation 2003 this morning. It was awesome! I have a complexion the color of a tomato. I got completely fried. And fired up, too! I was really worried about Creation this year, because I was going with a new youth group and really didn't know anybody. Well, that was stupid, because I just hung out with the group all week. I love the atmosphere of Creation!
After my fifth year going to Creation, I realized that when you get home, everything is really clear. God is right in front of your eyes, you have passion for the lost, you go around singing praise to the Lord, wanting to talk to complete strangers and scream for worship. And it's great that you can get that effect from a five-day festival. But man, I wanna be that way all the time! I want the courage to shout about God to all my friends, to all the strangers I meet. I know God gives us a spirit, not of fear, but of holy power, but it seems hard to tap into it.
So guys, pray for me, pray for each other, and drop me a line and I'll pray for you, too!
Creation was held at Hershey Park this year, which was really different. It wasn't nearly as dirty as it usually is, and we had access to air conditioning every afternoon, in the Giant Center and Chocolate World. Also, I had a revelation in a John Reuben concert when I was about twelve feet from the speakers. Music isn't loud until the beat makes your nostrils vibrate.
Last year, I got in front for Newsboys, and that was the only one I'd ever been in front for. Well, this year I was in front for John Reuben, Supertones (almost got squished), Sanctus Real (awesome!), part of ZOEgirl, Lincoln Brewster and Relient K. Audio Adrenaline and the Paul Colman trio last night were awesome! I love Christian music. As Harry Thomas said after Rock and Roll Worship Circus, you know it's a new generation when the words "freaking rager" become anointed!
The speakers this year were great! I think Justin Lookado was the best, but they were all great. Justin spoke on the subject of his book, Dateable: Are you? Are they?. It's at Barnes and Noble, and I totally think everybody should read it. He was hilarious, and everything he said was so true. This is the perfect book for a guy who doesn't understand what the heck is going on in a girl's brain... lol. Josh McDowell (New Evidence that Demands a Verdict) was also awesome. Heck, they were all awesome. But everybody go read Dateable. After hearing Justin speak, I sure want to!
To sum up: Creation is awesome. But not as awesome as heaven's gonna be, when we get to party with our brothers and sisters forever!
