Happy New Year!

On New Year's Eve, I went to see "Peter Pan" with Jessie. It was awesome! (Go see it). When I got home, nobody had called about a party, so I called, and sure enough, there was one, so I didn't end up sitting at home being depressed.

I had been feeling weird about the whole New Year thing for about a week. We packed away all our toys last week, and I was feeling awful about boxing up my childhood. So New Years didn't look so very hot.

But then I went to the party and hung out with a lot of friends, and it wasn't so bad after all. I've really matured in the last year, and gotten more confident, because I had no problem hanging out in a party--I used to not like parties. But I had a great time.

I think I might have been the only one at the party who managed to stay up all night long, which is very unusual for me--I'm not much of a night-owl. I'm not sure if Ricky and Tami were awake or not. (They look so great together!)

But I was the last one to leave at 7:30 AM, and I drove home while the sun came up and sang my heart out, and when I got home I went out in the fields and watched the line of light creep over the golden grass, and I realized that a New Year isn't such a huge thing after all, and neither is packing away your past with a choked-up smile. This is my last year in high school, but it's just another year, and I've got plenty in front of me. No matter how many years I live, I'll still love the look of a golden sunset over a green field, I'll still see the same mind in the darkness as I close my eyes, and I'll still go to sleep inventing stories. Those things will never change, though my life does, and I do.

So. My New Year's Resolution. Here it is: to forge more of a person relationship with God through Thanks, Prayer, Praise and Love.

Oh, God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Be Thou our guide while life shall last,
And our eternal home.

Awake, thou that sleepest! Rise, and Christ shall give thee life! Rise, shine, for thy light has come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee! This is the day that the Lord has made--we will rejoice and be glad in it.
