Salvation: Beginning Relationship with God

Although there are several methods people use for leading others to Christ, it comes down to the basic "A.B.C" foundation:

Admit:

Admit to God you're a sinner. Romans 3:23 tells us, "For all have sinned, and fallen short of the glory of God." No matter how good we think we are, we can't measure up to His expectations.

Believe:

Believe that Jesus was not only 100% man, but 100% God as well. He was the only One to live a sinless life, and that made Him worthy to die on the cross for our sins (if He had sinned, He would've been punished for His own sin). Our proof of this is in 2 Corinthians 15:3-4, "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and rose again the third day according to the scriptures." Why would He do that? John 3:16 tells us, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish (go to Hell), but have everlasting life (go to Heaven).

Call:

Just as a person can't be possessed by a demon without inviting one, neither can the Holy Spirit indwell you without you inviting Him. Ask Jesus to come into your heart and save you.

Here is a simple prayer you can say for salvation. You only need to mean it:

Dear God:

I know that I'm a sinner, that I make mistakes. God I ask you to forgive me and help me to never desire to do it again. Father, I know that Your Son, Jesus was worthy and did die on the cross for my sins, and that You were raised the third day. I ask You now to come into my heart and save me. Thanks for Your love, and for saving me. In Jesus name, Amen.

Once this is said, God is your Father, Jesus is your Brother. This is why it's called a relationship. If this page ever leads someone to know Christ, please e-mail me.

Remember, just because you are saved doesn't mean you're not going to sin anymore. Christians are sinners saved by grace (Ephesians 2:8-9), but are also children of the King (John 1:12). Christians sin, but a true Christian doesn't enjoy sinning anymore. If you live in habitual sin, and you enjoy it, you have every right to doubt your salvation.
