The first step is attaching over 150 laser-leveled castors to the floor, wheel side up. The 40’ revolving turntable is then put together section by section… 65 sections to be exact. The table is controlled by a master-slave computer processor which sends information to an electric motor. The motor then turns a cable that wraps all the way around the edge of the table. | |
The next step is to lay down all of the stage decking that cover the table. The decking in this particular production was painted to look like the floor of a certain cathedral in Scotland | |
Next, a series of elevated platforms and a curved staircase are attached to the top of the turntable and welded into place | |
A thrust stage is then built downstage of the turntable. Below this thrust stage is a hydraulic lift which descends twenty feet below the stage. | |
