Tomáš Vokoun was drafted 226th overall in the 1994 Entry Draft by the Montréal Canadiens. On February 6, 1997, he made his NHL debut with 16 saves against the Flyers. On June 26, 1998, Tomáš was claimed in the Expansion Draft by the Nashville Predators. On December 12, he earned his first win against the Sharks. On January 15, he recorded a shutout with 31 saves against the Coyotes. In that rookie season, Tomáš posted a 2.95 goals-against average while sharing goaltending duties with Mike Dunham. In 1999-2000, Mike played 33 games and lowered his GAA to 2.78. He won NHL Player of the Week honours on January 3. In 2000-01, Tomáš played 37 games and posted a 2.44 GAA.
