NHLPA PLAYER BIO

Kevin Weekes was drafted 41st overall in the 1993 Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers. On October 16, 1997, he made his NHL debut against the Stars. He played 11 games that season and posted a 3.96 goals-against average. In 1998-99, after starting the year in the IHL, Kevin was traded to the Vancouver Canucks with Ed Jovanovski, Dave Gagner, Mike Brown and a first-round draft pick for Pavel Bure, Bret Hedican, Brad Ference and a third-round draft pick. In 11 games down the stretch with the Canucks, Kevin posted a 3.83 GAA. In 1999-2000, he started the season by going 6-7-4 with a 2.86 GAA in 20 games with the Canucks. On October 2, he earned his first win against the Rangers. On October 24, he recorded his first shutout. Then, on December 19, Kevin was traded with Dave Scatchard and Bill Muckalt to the New York Islanders for Félix Potvin and a pair of draft picks (second and third rounds). In 36 games with the Islanders, Kevin went 10-20-4 with a 3.41 GAA.

At the 2000 Entry Draft on June 24, Kevin was traded with the rights to Kristian Kudroc and a second-round draft pick to the New York Islanders for three draft picks (first, fourth and seventh rounds). In his first year with his new team, Kevin played 60 games and went 20-33-8 with a 3.14 GAA and four shutouts. On November 14, Kevin earned his first shutout with the Lightning by making 34 saves in a 1-0 shutout of the Canadiens.
